Writers

[edit]

Would Minaj be credited as a writer since she writes her own raps? CB19 (talk) 16:46, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

We need a citation specifically indicating she wrote any lyrics, and can't just make presumptions based on previously released material. Snuggums (talk / edits) 17:28, 21 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The link to the sheet music includes Nicki as a writer. CB19 (talk) 11:30, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
And where did they get their source? --Jennica / talk 16:56, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
So many articles use the sheet music as a source. Why does it matter now? CB19 (talk) 14:13, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should we include Roland Clark since he's listed on the ASCAP entry? --Jennica / talk 16:59, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

That ASCAP entry is incomplete, no ISWC assigned yet. Don't go by it for now. —IB [ Poke ] 17:04, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Discogs credits Minaj as a writer: https://www.discogs.com/Katy-Perry-Ft-Nicki-Minaj-Swish-Swish/release/10346906 CB19 (talk) 12:08, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Discogs is not a reliable source, and should not be used to credit writers. livelikemusic talk! 12:33, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The credits on Discogs and the verified writers are the same. How is it not reliable? CB19 (talk) 14:13, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Discogs should be avoided because it's often full of inaccurate (and likely user-generated) content. In other words, pretty much anyone can insert anything there without oversight. Snuggums (talk / edits) 15:41, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. Thanks for explaining! CB19 (talk) 20:24, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Feud

[edit]

Should this be incorporated into the article somehow? --Jennica / talk 03:17, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm I guess this interview just confirms the cat's out of the bag. We have to add this now. But in bare minimal, regarding the lyrics and then maybe a line or two. —IB [ Poke ] 03:24, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote a bit about it but I'm not confident in the way I wrote it. So, if someone could check over it, that would be nice. --Jennica / talk 03:40, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Single?

[edit]

Is this song an official single, and if not, should this edit be reverted? ---Another Believer (Talk) 22:24, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There are publications calling it one, but the term "single" is often used loosely to refer to any individual song. An official single has a commercial release (whether via radio or purchasable download). I'm not yet sure if that's the case here when people could get the track for free when pre-ordering the album on iTunes. Snuggums (talk / edits) 22:38, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It will be a single soon since it is listed under Cool New Music in All Access. Just that once they put up the official Mediabase adds date we can change it. —IB [ Poke ] 05:34, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think whenever you get a song that is part of an album preorder, it's considered a promo single. Singles (like "Chained to the Rhythm", "Bon Appétit") would be released alone first.
The song was only a promotional single, released to digital download along with the preorder. Only. Can I reverse? —Patricia CV msg 23:58, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Patricia CV: It is a single. It just didn't do much. --Jennica / talk 00:24, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Capitol Records did indeed decide to focus on this as a single, but what's not entirely clear (unless I'm missing something) is whether May 19, 2017 was the commercial release date. Snuggums (talk / edits) 01:38, 24 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Genre

[edit]

Should house be a genre in the infobox? EDM seems like a secondary genre. CB19 (talk) 17:52, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peak Spain

[edit]

I changed the peak of Spain because Swish Swish peaked in 61, no 16. The reference is the same since the source provided already stated that her peak was 61, the correction was made in order to make the information match the source — Preceding unsigned comment added by X2franklop (talkcontribs) 12:44, 10 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the reason this is is because spanishcharts.com changed the singles chart it archived from one combining physical and digital sales to the one published on promusicae.es. Ss112 07:17, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Is Citation #4 (genius.com) Reliable?

[edit]

There are a couple of paragraphs of apparent quotes from Katy Perry cited from (https://genius.com/Katy-perry-swish-swish-lyrics). On that page I can find no source for the quotes – they appear to me to have been entered by a user on the site. I also searched for the sentences in the quotes a bit and couldn’t find them anywhere except places that use that same page as a source.

I’m not sure what normal procedure at this point is, which is why I’m asking here – what should I do about this?

Based on an old song from the 90s

[edit]

Sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand me. I think this song is a remake of an old song (house song) from the 90s. I can't find the name of this old song in this text. can you please edit it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.134.252.226 (talk) 18:26, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't provide the song's name or a credible citation to support the assertion, then no can do. Snuggums (talk / edits) 19:07, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
