Twin towers?

[edit]

In the paragraph, there is a sentence about Wodonga, a community whose location is not mentioned. Context isn't given for how it has become a sustainable community, and I don't believe the reference to 'twin towers' is understandable. Unless someone can clarify, I recommend removing it. Not sure what the protocol is, so I'll wait a while first.

National initiatives

[edit]

Is wikipedia a USA centric encyclopedia? If it's based on the language, then the United Kingdom has seniority. It seems like the unbiased approach would have neither be 'national' or 'international'. AnonymousAuthority (talk) 17:16, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Scope of the article

[edit]

The article seems to be mainly about sustainable settlements (collections of buildings), rather than sustainable communities (communities of people). For example no mention of transition (towns or network) or other community-led initiatives, both of which mentioned by European Network for Community-Led Initiatives on Climate Change and Sustainability [1]. You might argue these aren't yet fully formed, developed or realised, but wouldn't that be a somewhat conservative view? Emergent stuff can appear in Wikipedia can't it? eg Extinction Rebellion

'Challenges and critiques' doesn't easily or very clearly differentiate between different types (collections of buildings/settlement plans etc, and communities of people/Social movement initiatives). For example "lacking a well-developed environmental justice framework..", "..does not take "social justice" into account, and the need for sustainable communities to be democratic and collaborate with the environmental justice movement." & "..accommodating to neoliberal economic systems instead of confronting them:" might well be strongly contested by Transition and other community-led initiatives and networks.
