I believe that looking or being frail is actually fairly common for people over 7 foot 7. (230 cm) Usually being that tall relates to a pituitary or other ailment. Sandy Allen ended up in a wheelchair and Julius Koch had to have his legs amputated.--T. Anthony (talk) 23:46, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

There is a reason why humans don't grow above a certain height. Your body organs only work well when they are in certain proportions.

For one thing, as someone gets taller, there is more weight on his hips and ankles, so he's more likely to have leg problems. If somebody has fdfngjonjnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndftwice the height of a normal person, he has twice as much weight on each square inch of his ankles. It's like going around all day with another person sitting on your shoulders.

The longest nerves in the body are the ones that reach from the brain to the end of the legs. They're also the first to go with many common diseases of aging. So he's more likely to have nerve problems.

His blood has to return from his lower legs back to his heart. The veins in his legs have valves to hold pressure while the heart beats. These valves wear out with age even in normal people, which is why they develop varicose veins. Someone twice as tall has twice as much pressure.

His heart has to pump blood to his head along arteries that are much longer than ordinary arteries, which requires more pressure. I think that most people who are very tall from these diseases usually die because the valves of their heart can't take it.

Basketball

One old ref referred to him as basketball player but that is not mentioned in the current media reports. The video does look like he would not be able to play anyway. Maybe he did play though when he was younger (the ref was from 2005 and might have referred back in time from then) and not as tall (his growth stopped in 2008). Sultan Kosen is Not the Tallest Man the World Has Seen

The tallest man in the world actually has 10 inches on Sultan Kosen. His name was Robert Wadlow and he passed away in 1940. A link to an article listing him as the tallest man in the world (according to the Guinnes Book of World Records) is below.

Picture?

I have to interject here, surely the world's tallest man deserves a better picture on Wikipedia? He's been photographed numerous times by Guiness, and surely these photos of professional grade are better than the current, pixelated one. I'd do it myself, but I don't know how. Incorrect tense throughout article.

A lot of the article, especially the intro, is written with the past tense. He's still alive and (as far as I could ascertain) doing well. I'll fix it next time I'm awake and have time, or anyone else feel free to do so. Rafaelloaa (talk) 10:40, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Sultan Kösen is a Kurd

In the article stands Sultan Kösen Turk, but in reality he is a Kurd from Mardin . You should mention this in the article. Especially since he chooses the pro-Kurdish party HDP himself Avestaboy (talk) 09:36, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

I dont know if he was a aktivst. But what i know is that he is a Kurd from Turkey and choose the HDP . The Kurds dont have a own state therefore many people think he is a Turk . But thats wrong. In Kurdish tv channels he has spocken Kurdish language . Well he is already placed in Category:Kurds in Turkey and in Category:Turkish Kurdish people. Looking at others there I see that Cigerxwîn has a nationality of Kurdish, while Aynur Doğan has both Kurdish and Turkish. What would be best here? Martinevans123 (talk) 19:31, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Following discussion from what the IP user suggested and from what has been suggested, I have described him as being a Turk and also mentioned his Kurd ethnicity in the lede section. I imagine that this would be a contentious subject and is probably one of the reasons why its locked. There doesn't seem to be any guideline or internal consistency regarding this though. I learned in college that the kurds are a nation.
