second boer war

[edit]

I put back the titled link to second boer war as in my experience this is what people ask about. They do not necessarily know that the South African War is the same thing, although the war memorial in Bury St Edmunds is exactly that - a memorial to the South African War.--Edmund Patrick 12:26, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Concerned about the phrase "totally decimated". Decmiation is to reduce by one-tenth. Is this what happened, or did the fighting force take very significant casualties - perhaps 50%? Perhaps 80%? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.30.62.100 (talk) 13:53, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis

[edit]

An IP keeps adding Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis to the infobox as a notable commander of the regiment. There is nothing in the article at the moment to suggest that he ever commanded the regiment. Dormskirk (talk) 15:34, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The article on Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis mentions the fact but is not referenced. In fact the whole article is poorly referenced. There are many editors though who have greater knowledge that I do about the regiment and they will, if necessary, make any changes (with references)! Edmund Patrick confer 14:04, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thanks for that. As you say, it needs a source. Dormskirk (talk) 14:30, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

List of Eureka veterans

[edit]

I am deleting the list of Eureka veterans per WP:UNDUE and WP:VNOT. There is far too much detail here. We don't list all the veterans who took part in other battles. Consensus should be obtained for including such extensive material. Dormskirk (talk) 08:35, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This appears to be the editor attempting to rescue their lists from no less than 10 current AfDs. Robbiegibbons please do not do this. Engage with the AfDs directly and discuss changes like this on the various talk pages. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 08:49, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
