Non-encyclopedic advertising tone.

While highly interesting to the fans, the preview of the newest version in the "Game" section is clearly a copy-paste of advertising/promotional material. Possibly put here by the publishers, but lacking any source so it must be considered as speculation until proven otherwise! At any rate, this is unfit for an encyclopedia and would be better off on Google Playstore. Per Wikipedia rules, I'm undoing all the non-encyclopedic parts while assuming good faith. Any restoring of this needs to be discussed here on the talk page first. Issar El-Aksab (talk) 01:22, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Tags are always helpful. Thank you. Issar El-Aksab (talk) 03:26, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

What is your request? Garion96 (talk) 21:51, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
No specific request initially, simply a place for original editor to discuss relevance. In case it was good faith and not spam. Following etiquette. :-)
But now I do have a request: that you restore my own edits on the gameplay. I believe they were rather relevant to an otherwise minimalistic article, since they explained the topic. Stubs need to grow. With proper guidance, naturally. I think you've reverted a bit too much.
Please bear in mind that I lack the time for disputes and lengthy debates, and just wish to give back to Wikipedia by making useful contributions. I know I'm still a novice when it comes to optimal WP formulation. If you think my edit could be perfected instead of completely reverted... be my guest! My suggestion: we could rename the section "Game" to "Gameplay". Wouldn't that immediately make my attempted contribution more relevant, in an encyclopaedic perspective? Issar El-Aksab (talk) 03:26, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
I re added it to the article. I think your edit simply got lost in all the spam edits recently to this article. Garion96 (talk) 08:18, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. (sigh) Alas, I've just had to repair part of it AGAIN, thanks to our persistent advertiser's recklessness. To think a few days' patience would solve all those "speculative" issues, but nooooo. I'm beginning to believe we've got ourselves a phantom user creating kamikaze accounts just to spam WP with out-of-place press releases. (Uhm... just a hunch there. ;-)
I've cleaned up some of the newest junk. Being rather inexperienced, I must ask: is it technically possible to edit-protect this article from users of very recent registration? Say, less than 5 weeks? That would render moot all attempts to advertise the next monthly update, once and for all! Issar El-Aksab (talk) 00:15, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
No, unfortunately not. The article is already semi-protected which means that only autoconfirmed users can edit the article. Garion96 (talk) 18:35, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Very well then. You can count me in on the neighborhood watch over this one. And I suggest a (temporary?) banning procedure for a user whose account's sole purpose seems to be persisting on this specific article with a deaf ear.
I'll let you guys decide. His repeated vandalizing of my edit makes my objectivity questionable. ;-) Issar El-Aksab (talk) 22:37, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry for editing Subway Surfers I didn't mean to vandalize and disrupt the editing. I was just thinking of Ideas for the game. I didn't think that it would hurt yall. Hope you give me another chance and not to block me from subway surfers. I'm a big fan and I was trying to put my ideas down, But I didn't think it was a disruptive editing. I'm sorry Hope yall can forgive me. User:Mikeyyking.

How can I put the information on the editing on subway surfers and get it from a reliable source. User:Mikeyyking. Really am Sorry.

Wait, do you mean your edits were about your own ideas for the game, and not even press release leaks? It's not clear.
At any rate, dude, I'm not sure you get the concept of an encyclopedia. Also, the repeated reverting of all your edits should've been more than a clue, a screaming red flag. You urgently need to read the article Wikipedia:Edit warring, to understand just how disruptive your actions have been to the community. Pleading is of little use unless you absolutely understand first what Wikipedia is about and how it works. Click the "History" tab when your edits in an article vanish to see some explanations, read your personal talkpage for some essential basic links to browse (or see mine), train in the sandbox, use the "Show preview" button as much as you can, and ask for advice using the tag {{helpme}}. A LOT of advice. One final suggestion: if your only goal is to edit this here one page, you'd be better off forgetting about it and saving your time. It looks to me like your place is in a gaming forum, not here. No offense. – Issar El-Aksab (talk) 01:42, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Official facts and nothing else

It's official: Moscow (Russia) version is out now. Debunking once and for all the ludicrous fantasy edits by some who don't seem to learn. Maybe some further discipline is in order to deter the repeat offenders and solve this rather tiresome chronic problem...

Since this is a casual game of rather basic principle, the article about it doesn't need an avalanche of pointless (let alone false/forged) details. Maybe it will simply remain a stub, for intrinsic unabundance of relevant encyclopedic material. I for one can live with that. Issar El-Aksab (talk) 02:00, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Aw, so disappointed it's not Los Angeles with an American Boy Band...... :D Garion96 (talk) 07:53, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Lol, it was claimed to be San Diego! ///EuroCarGT 20:33, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Sh'yeah, dudes, like, mondo bummer. (Mind you, Moscow's lovely this time of year. ;-)
Plus, we were promised tons of really cool stuff, that never existed (all the more frustrating): four new characters, bonus costumes costing a ridiculously cheap amount of coins instead of keys, and appropriate daytime lighting. Mikeyyking should've written all this in the comments of the Google Play page, so the developers might hear him next time. The man had some really nice ideas, just misplaced when posted here. I hope he finds his place in this vast internet world. Issar El-Aksab (talk) 01:33, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi guys. I'm the lead designer at SYBO Games - the company who did the actual gameplay development for Subway Surfers. I've never actually felt the need to edit anything on Wikipedia before, but once this page unlocks, I'd be happy to share some of the more interesting facts about the game. I'm very clear on Wikipedia guidelines, so no advertising - but there's plenty of awesome facts to throw around by now.Urids (talk) 17:44, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Welcome, dude, I'm sure you can be VERY useful to this article in the near future. Here are a few suggestions:
Post all "news", such as future announcements, on the official website, and if need be add its updated link to the article here, at the bottom. This way, it will be an official and accepted reference for Wikipedia. (Nobody's doubting your identity, but we always seek certified facts and there's a procedure.)
I think the article is not, now or before, "locked" to registered users. Since you seem to understand the basics, you can start swimming this very minute. If in doubt, use either the article's talk page, or ask a user on his by creating a new section. (I'm never sure how available I'll be myself, but consider this an invitation.) We've had some trouble with a couple of misinformed editors, but this isn't Totalitaristan. Assuming good faith is and remains a major initial Wikipedia rule for everybody.
Wikipedia generally advises people against editing their own biography pages, for obvious objectivity reasons. Even our wise founder had to learn a few lessons. I for one think you already understand how this guideline (not a fatwa) could apply to your works. If in doubt, ask the Community! :-)
It's never a bad idea to create your own user page. (Click on your own name's red link to start. It's YOUR page, make yourself at home!)
P.S.: I really liked the super 24h giftfest I discovered today. And my nephew loves you guys even more now. Article talk pages are not forums, but on mine or (better yet) yours, only the host decides what's irrelevant.
P.S.2: Back to business(!), I'd like to ask you if there's any direct kinship between your game and the bizarre old little-known japanese game Pepsiman on PlayStation[1], such as an acknowledged inspiration, or if it's just an uncanny convergence (as I'm betting). There's a whole debate going on in other pages about such instances of "precursor games" and "spiritual successors". Again, the ideal answer would be something on your official website(s), that would become a bona fide reference.
I wonder... maybe Pepsi would love to sponsor you for a bonus Pepsiboy™ character, or a joint spin-off? Issar El-Aksab (talk) 21:18, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Alright, you make some very good points - I'll pass your suggestions to our web-page-guy (he's on the other side of my monitor) and we'll look into posting facts on the official webpage, then have them mirrored/referenced here. We're super busy making new stuff of course, so the going might be a little slow, but we'll get there. As for the pepsiman thing - it's all coincidence, however, the new Fanta commercials have US wondering if we're being lent from. The hoverboard, jetpacks, golden pickups and the dog all look very familiar :) We're constantly being bombarded with requests for collaborations, but we want to grow the brand to the point, where Pepsi should be paying us to feature the Subway Surfers on their stuff ;)Urids (talk) 14:40, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
That's the spirit! Make the world notice and respect your hard work (with 100,000,000+ downloads, I'd say it's well under way), and some day you'll wake up to find it written in an encyclopedia. ;-) Man, I love living in the 21st Century.
More to the point of said futuristic encyclopedia, I noticed that the SYBO Games and Kiloo pages have some well-sourced extra info on the game that aren't in this page. Is it appropriate to duplicate the relevant bits here, or would that be redundant? What's the opinion of the Wikiveterans? Issar El-Aksab (talk) 23:47, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

"No disambiguation links on Subway Surfers."[2]
What exactly ARE those problem links? Please list them here so we can work on them. Issar El-Aksab (talk) 03:24, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

This article is a potential target for disruptive editing...

...literally and figuratively speaking, though. As seen in this article's edit history, several IPs have edited the article and removed important information from it. Unsourced content is continually placed here, and rumors are also evident in the way the article is edited. I suggest semi-protecting this article so that IP editing will not be tolerated. I think we should "reconstruct" this page and clean it up to follow Wikipedia's [{WP:MoS|MoS]]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Japanese Rail Fan (talkcontribs) 05:49, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Object: WikiProject Video games have clear guidelines about images "If a suitable English language cover art already exists on the subject page, then do not waste time in replacing it with a different version." I'd also say that even though this is an image, the the spirit of WP:NOTCHANGELOG applies to this too. There is no need to change the image just because a new version of the game has been released. - X201 (talk) 11:01, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
