For straight men only?

Was looking to see if there was anything relevant to Magic Mike. 72.228.190.243 (talk) 10:32, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Beyond My Ken, don't remove my comments again, that's not permitted here with a very few exceptions of which this isn't one. 72.228.190.243 (talk) 15:30, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
I'll complete this if necessary. There needs to be a see also to Male stripper above the lede or something. Lycurgus (talk) 23:51, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
There's a link to it in the lead. arbitration isn't going to touch this with a ten foot pole as it is an extremely minor dispute. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:08, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

I had dropped it but the gender identification I now notice in the lede addresses my concern. 72.228.190.243 (talk) 19:05, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Request for Unprotection

i don't know if Beeblebrox is planning on keeping the protection on this page until I resolve a dispute with BeyondMyKen about image removal, but another user and myself need to be able to edit this page by tomorrow for an education assignment. (i didn't see the recommendation to use

in the welcome message before i started making edits because hey, finals and i want to finish this project as soon as possible.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tbuford (talkcontribs) 19:14, 16 May 2013‎ (UTC)

The dispute is not with me, per se, but with the consensus of editors who feel that the images enhance the article. In any case, if you have non-controversial content edits which you wish to include in the article -- and that does not include removing images -- you should use the "edit protected" template (Template:Edit protected) to request that an admin make the edits through the protection. In my own opinion, your content edits have been beneficial to the article, so I, personally, would probably have no objection to them. Whether the edits will be made or not will depend on whether any other editors raise an objection, and on the judgment of the admin who answers the request. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:25, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Also, when you post a comment, end it with four tildes (~~~~) and the system will name- and time-stamp the comment. Beyond My Ken (talk) 23:27, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Proposed merge with Male stripper

Can't see any reason for two articles whose basic difference is gender. Dougweller (talk) 11:21, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

 Done

Thanks everyone. Dougweller (talk) 18:57, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome, what do you think of the merged version? I tried to distribute the content to the appropriate sections. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (talk) 17:30, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Does this article really need a "penis shot"?

I thought the original image in the Male stripper section was perfectly adequate, but User:Beyond My Ken seems to disagree. User:1969Laura originally added and BMK has since re-added it several times an image of a fully nude male dancer which shows his genitalia. As far as I'm concerned Wikipedia is not censored, but I also do not feel that we need to force something that is simply in bad taste on the average reader. The top image is of several women, three of which are topless, but have their genitalia covered. The original male stripper image was essentially the same. Anyone feel that this article must have a penis shot as BMK contends? --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (talk) 01:08, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

  • This is not an article on the 2nd law of thermodynamics, it's an article on stripping, the act of people taking off their clothes for the entertainment and titillation of others, and in an article about stripping, normally covered parts of the body are going to be shown
  • What part of "Wikipedia is not censored" do you not understand? Why do you think that your view of what is "bad taste" overrules that policy?
  • What is it about looking at a penis that upsets you? Do you have the same reaction in looking at a vagina? Why is it that you believe that your own discomfort should regulate what other people see - do you think they all react as you do, or that your reaction is in some way more appropriate than theirs?
  • Please cite where I wrote "This article must have a penis" - or did you know that by reading my mind?
  • Please take a moment to read WP:BRD. When you make a Bold edit, and are Reverted by another editor, the very next thing you do is to Discuss the conflict on the talk page while the article stays in the status quo ante. What you do not do is to continue to revert - that is edit warring, and you can get blocked for that.
BMK (talk) 03:02, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Once again, so not revert to your preferred version of the article. Wait until a consensus forms here as to what to do. Your continued reversion is a violation of a number of Wikipedia policies. BMK (talk) 04:21, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Sort it out here. I've protected it as I found it, I've no comment on the issue. Dougweller (talk) 08:50, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

I would say the original image is preferable as it's more appropriate for this article. It's more what's going on (he's wearing a thong stuffed with notes and on a stage), it's higher quality and it seems to have been taken somewhere that it is appropriate to take pictures. The 'new' or current one is a low quality snap and seems to be more appropriate for the CFNM page than this one on strippers (CFNM, incidentally, doesn't seem to even be mentioned on this page). Maybe both would be better after a little expansion in this area? Also, the caption should definitely be changed to remove his (alleged) name. Nikthestunned 10:59, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Thank you Nik, that was my assessment as well. I didn't find out about the potential copyright and model release violation until I started looking into the image. It may be deleted simply because of that. The User that added it to the article is also the one who uploaded it to Commons, User:1969Laura. This person has edited the original Male stripper article, this one, and one other. --Scalhotrod - Just your average banjo playing, drag racing, cowboy... (talk) 15:50, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
