What wallanon is working on
- Want to add content about a few key things over the next week or so: social aspects of stripping and they affect the stripper, content cleanup and references, expand detail, etc. Any other ideas? Wallanon (talk) 12:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
- Put together a "lead section" from different pieces of the article. It is currently at five paragraphs and needs to get down to four. Will clean up later after putting more content into the "law" section, or someone is welcome to take a chop on it. - Wallanon (talk) 15:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
- Starting to look at incorporating international perspective in the cleanup to prep article for GA review. Plan is to start with the "law" section and work up throughout the content. Any vote on where on the globe to reference after a European survey? - Wallanon (talk) 15:25, 2 June 2010 (UTC)
Feedback from 123.108.69.172
This article is way too American focused. Most of the stuff about rules and regulations and so forth in this article is uniquely American, bizarrely uptight stuff that does not apply in any other countries. For instance, the notion that showing genitals in a stripclub is illegal would be laughable to most people in the world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.108.69.172 (talk) 14:12, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
- 123.108.69.172, feedback noted. The article is currently U.S. focused, because quite frankly it had to start somewhere when turning a redirect into a full blown article. You are more than welcome to contribute, which would mean having an actual username, or stayed tuned for the rest. Thanks. - Wallanon (talk) 04:01, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
Image use
Image use has been questioned at Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Archive 76#Images at Stripper. I have nominated three images for deletion as they may breach WP:IMAGEUSE#Privacy rights, see Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2010 May 23. I also suggest that we include a picture of a male stripper as currently the image use would suggest that this is a female-only activity. File:Male stripper San Francisco January 2009.jpg may be suitable. Fences&Windows 18:03, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- I added that image at the Topless section of the page, where there was at least some discussion of male strippers. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 22:00, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Saw the message on the talk page given to my username (since erased). No comment on the photos nominated for deletion (it is on those discussion threads). Appreciate the input, but there should really be discussion here before images are put up for deletion if it is for subjective reasons. Also, there is a male stripper article split off from striptease that is in need of work. Stripping is dominated by female entertainers, and both research and pop culture handle the two in very different ways because of the many distinctions between the two. The explanation for why the male stripper image was removed was on the edit comment. Thanks. Wallanon (talk) 23:10, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- That comment doesn't really explain anything. You removed without discussion, after the discussion here and on the VP about why there wasn't enough discussion of male strippers in this article. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 00:27, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- "...if it is for subjective reasons". No, privacy rights are important and not something to be taken lightly. It's not about whether you "appreciate the input" or not, especially as you do not WP:OWN this article or use of the images. Fences&Windows 17:44, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's simply a difference of opinion on the images, and I've read the policy. I also tend to consider an entire batch of images from the source for context before I use any one of them. On the issue of ownership, there are multiple recent edits left unaltered even though I didn't necessarily agree with them. And it would be great to have others actually building out content. Don't make it personal. - Wallanon (talk) 18:30, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
