Hecht's photo?

[edit]

Would someone be able to take an exterior photo of a Hecht's store before the chain is converted to Macy's in August 2006? J2rome 06:23, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sc logo.gif

[edit]

Image:Sc logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:53, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

The reference section of this article is inaccurate. "Carl's Corner" appears to be a blog by a Philadelphia Quaker who mentions Strawbridge's only in passing. "The Tale of Two Family Businesses is a dead link.Mrpenguin1 14:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of stores' fates...

[edit]

The listing recently deleted by Dough4872 was not a directory of extant stores, which is the prohibition set forth in WP:NOTDIRECTORY; it is an accounting of the ultimate fates of the Strawbridge's stores, and as such, is a valuable part of the story told by the article. I'm seeking consensus to restore it. — HarringtonSmith (talk) 23:51, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of Flagship Store

[edit]

The article really needs to have a photo of the Philadelphia store since it is the flagship store. Especially since the subsection is about recent work, having a visual is helpful. A postcard image in an earlier general section is a nice reference, but it isn't an actual photo.

The postcard image is actually clearer that your photo - not your fault though. I know how difficult it is to get a good image of the building, because of its great bulk. At the size that we can afford to display the picture in the article, it's not really doing much good to the reader, because details can't be seen. The postcard, because it's not an actual photograph, is much clearer.

Anyway, let me tak another look and see if your image can be used in the article in another way, and bigger. BMK (talk) 04:46, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect! I was in Philly for work last week and enjoyed strolling around. Lots of really nice late 19th and 20th century buildings liek this one that people were missing out on (in a rush to see the Liberty Bell!).ProfReader (talk) 13:36, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. I especially like some of the more unknown alleys in Old City. A very photogenic city. BMK (talk) 15:23, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Employee Theft

[edit]

My mother worked at Strawbridge’s in the 1960’s.

She told me that in keeping with their Quaker beliefs Strawbridge’s never prosecuted an employee for theft. Instead they would arrange a repayment schedule equitable with that employee’s pay and generally keep them working. 2601:145:482:8BF0:D0D6:E512:E7C9:5981 (talk) 11:12, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
