Italics
[edit]This edit added italics to the words "Toodyay Gentlemen's Club", but I don't believe that italics are appropriate, because they don't meet the criteria listed in WP:ITALICS. Is there a specific MOS reason for the italics? Mitch Ames (talk) 12:52, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
Which year was the building opened
[edit]The article says:
In January 1908 local builder James Barker Meredith of Newcastle won the contract to build the premises, now known as Stirling House. The Perth architect was Richard Joseph Dennehy. The building was opened for meetings in about August of the same year.
There's quite a lot of text (including two sentence changes) between "1908" and "the same year" - too much, I think, for good readability. I don't have access to the refs, so I can't verify that "the same year" was actually 1908 (possibly it's not, due to cut/paste error) and just fix it myself. Could someone with access to the refs check that it is 1908, and update the article, eg to "The building was opened ... in August 1908". Mitch Ames (talk) 07:29, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
reply to Mitch Ames re correct referencing to Shire of Toodyay Municipal Inventory
[edit]Yes, the PDF file you found on the Shire of Toodyay's website is the same reference. Sorry, I have not cited correctly. Just learning, would appreciate if you could fix up and I shall attempt to correct on other pages I have recently created. Sorry, not quite sure how to correctly respond on talk pages, Elrebe56

"Sorry, I have not cited correctly. Just learning, ..."
That's fine - as long as the information is there, we can always fix/improve the formatting and linking etc."would appreciate if you could fix up ..."
Done, with this edit."I shall attempt to correct on other pages I have recently created. "
You should be able to just copy the entire reference (from the editing page) as it is. Note that all details (in the {{cite}} template appear once, but the ref has a name, ie<ref name=MunicipalInventoryAndHeritageList>
so that for subsequent use you can just insert<ref name=MunicipalInventoryAndHeritageList />
. (It doesn't matter if the ref is named and you don't use it again.) See WP:NAMEDREFS for details. Mitch Ames (talk) 10:02, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
"Sorry, not quite sure how to correctly respond on talk pages,
Talk pages can be edited much the same was as article pages. See WP:TALKPAGE. Looking at what other editors do on the talk pages is usually a good guide for the general conventions. But don't worry too much about learning everything at once - you'll get the hang of it eventually. Mitch Ames (talk) 10:02, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
