History, Notable people
[edit]I fixed some formatting in the two passages mentioning Reuben L Garnett Jr. I mean no disrespect for Mr. Garnett or his service to the nation but I'm not sure he should be listed here. I do not doubt that he was loved and missed by his family and friends, but so far I've found no indication that he is notable outside of his family and home town. I hate the way that sounds, but at least three other Steelton men (C.E. Hawk, J.J. Jones, and D.L. Murphy) were killed in Vietnam. They all deserve recognition but a Wikipedia article may not be the best place to do it. PurpleChez (talk) 19:43, 1 August 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with you on both counts. Gerry D (talk) 00:35, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
My name is Janine Garnett, what right do you have trying to discredit my brother, he died a hero. Where the other soldiers were afraid to go over the wall to help their sargeant, my brother did and he paid the ultimate price he and his sargeant. He inlisted at an early age, no he did not go other places to be acknowledged. So who are you to judge him? This is to Gerry and Purplechez!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.95.13.20 (talk) 18:33, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
Serbs from Croatia
[edit]Dose are Serbs from Croatia military border officers serving to Austria- Hungarian Empire. Moved there to serve in battle against Ottoman Empire. Dose are not Croats- originated there but immigrants from Serbia to Croatia not allowed to marry Croat it was forbidden by church laws. That was possible only after 20th century like the time of Tito and Yugoslavia. Also that people were without job when Turkey retreated and they were trying to fund better conditions for future. One more reason is war 1914-1918 between Serbia and Austrian- Hungarian Empire with great percentage of Serbians in that military it wasn't good to stay and fight against their own people. They moved everywhere. 178.222.208.64 (talk) 22:25, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
