A fact from Statue of Winston Churchill, Parliament Square appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 29 September 2011 (check views). The text of the entry was as follows:
Another Believer has just posted a "citation needed" tag next to the claim that there is a replica of the statue at the Australian National University in Canberra. The replica certainly exists, and here are a couple of photos of it from Commons. However, it doesn't feature in ANU's sculpture brochure, and the reason would appear to be that – according to this blog post – it's made of "plastic" (I suspect actually fibreglass). Can anyone provide any further information?
Page 7 of this paper by the Australian Capital Territory Heritage Council provides a brief history of the statue. It states that it's a "fibreglass replica of the Winston Churchill statue by Robert Ivor Jones". Nick-D (talk) 22:24, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Nick-D: that's very helpful. I'll add that as a citation. A shame they garbled the sculptor's name, but I assume the dates are accurate. GrindtXX (talk) 01:55, 13 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
