[edit]I had never heard of Staithes, but I have now. Thanks Wikipedia! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.29.72.198 (talk • contribs) 00:15, 1 February 2006 ((UTC))
I had lived in staithes all my life but because of the influx of "outsiders" causing huge house prices are now forced to live away from the place i call home me and many other youngsters are all getting forced away leaving behind a tourist attraction that was once a loverly place to live. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.93.21.33 (talk • contribs) 16:07, 14 August 2006 ((UTC))
Dinosaur
[edit]Quote: "a rare fossil of a seagoing dinosaur ". Technically, dinosaurs were land creatures, so there was no such thing as a seagoing dinosaur. The word 'dinosaur' is often used popularly and incorrectly to refer to similarly aged creatures, but in an encyclopaedia is there not a requirement to be accurate? Should this be corrected? See Dinosaurs for more information. Emeraude 16:25, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
Fishermen
[edit]Quote: "a hundred years later there is only one. Still a father and son fishing operation, three generations of the Hanson family currently work the lone full time fishing boat"
I've just returned from a holiday in Staithes and I saw more than one fisherman/boat operating from the village. Of course I'm no expert so did not edit the page straight away. Can anyone verify this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.218.239.160 (talk) 16:00, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes - There are many fishing boats but not many work full time. --81.129.165.136 (talk) 16:51, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Alum
[edit]The quarries worked over a period of over 200 years and are extremely extensive. Not in any way a short lived affair as suggested.

Bonnets
[edit]I would like a reliable citation for the claim made here about bonnets. Are these only worn (as I suspect) on special occasions, or (as I doubt) from day to day? The article is vague but seems to imply the latter, even if implicitly. RobinCarmody (talk) 01:32, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
