I could be wrong, but is St Mary's not the building that was a heritage centre and in the 1980s and 1990s housed an audio visual visitor attraction called the York Story? If so and anyone has reliable sources covering this period it might be worth adding it to the article. (I suspect I did have a guidebook many years ago...)
