Discrepancy with Japanese occupation of Hong Kong article

[edit]

This article states that this incident occurred "Several hours before the British surrendered...", whilst the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong article states that it occurred "After the British surrendered...". Can anyone shed any light on which statement is correct? Muzzam (talk) 07:29, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

p53 of Charles G. Roland's "Massacre and Rape in Hong Kong: Two Case Studies Involving Medical Personnel and Patients" says: "A survivor recorded at 5.30 am on Christmas morning, while the fighting was still continuing along the adjacent ridge, about 150 to 200 Japanese broken into the hospital." So the massacre took place before British surrender. Cwangc (talk) 19:05, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cannibalism?

[edit]

Did anyone catch that cannibalism is mentioned in a Chinese-language external note but this is not mentioned in the article proper? Was this just war-propaganda or real? 66.241.130.86 (talk) 18:03, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

While it is possible, as that did occur in a couple of very isolated incidents, it probably is a mis-representation. The actual atrocities were incredibly horrible and someone might have mistaken a brutal mutilation with cannibalism.50.111.14.58 (talk) 02:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

War Crimes

[edit]

Is there any information regarding evidence from this atrocity being used in any of the war crimes trials against Imperial Japan?50.111.14.58 (talk) 02:49, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Murders of the first 2 doctors and 3 nurses

[edit]

A captured female American reporter who was present in Hong Kong at the time of the surrender gives the names of both the doctors and the 3 nurses who were taken immediately by the first Japanese troops who arrived at St. Stephen's.
