Help Desk request
[edit]24.153.133.82 made a request at the help desk here. '82's edits to the article are here. The history being incorrect seems to relate to that St. Martinus University was was not founded by John Daryanani and that St. Martinus changed ownership in October 2010 rather than reopened under new ownership in October 2010. The John Daryanani information was unsourced, so I removed it. The reopened characterization seems correct. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 13:30, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
- A quick search on the name and the school shows the Daryanani-lead establishment is probably true, at least from the business side. I am not sure how to best express the role of the Roman Catholic Church though. [1].--Skyfiler (talk) 19:25, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
The article referred in history is factually incorrect. The article does not have a date. University never closed in operation. A request is being made to review and fix history.
The university is open continiously for 10 years. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sharmauiuc (talk • contribs) 02:23, 24 February 2013 (UTC)
RfC: Should information about private student loan eligibility be included in the article?
[edit]The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
There is a sentence currently in the "Accreditation" section regarding eligibility of SFUSOM students for private loans from Medinvest. Should this remain in the article?
Survey
[edit]- No. It seems to me as though it has WP:SOAPBOX issues and doesn't meet WP:NOTABILITY guidelines. Aqwfyj Talk/Contribs 03:16, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yes This can go to a separate Loan sections. It is well known that students from North America need this information to make informed decisions. Consequently, it does not have issue with WP:SOAPBOX and meets WP:NOTABILITY if the [2] is added.Sharmauiuc (talk) 07:08, 25 February 2013 (UTC) — Sharmauiuc (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- Yes Loans should have a separte section as this is fundamental to the students decision procress.Xtc4jr (talk) 12:23, 25 February 2013 (UTC) — Xtc4jr (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

- Yes Loan information is necessary for one to make decision and gives credibility to the wikipedia post. Dutchcarib (talk) 02:28, 4 March 2013 (UTC) — Dutchcarib (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.
- No. Doesn't meet WP:NOTABILITY. Also feels spammy to me. Jschnur (talk) 04:25, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- No. This information is not a notable characteristic of the university. I agree that it seems spammy. Fagles (talk) 00:46, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Comment The single purpose accounts voting here to include a reference to Medinvest should note that Wikipedia is not a business directory, nor is it a enrollment portal. Prospective students can go straight to St Martinus website (linked in the info box) for financing options. Jschnur (talk) 07:27, 24 March 2013 (UTC)
- Seeing as it's been a month and there is consensus among the non-WP:SPAs, I am closing this RfC and removing the loan information from the article. Aqwfyj Talk/Contribs 20:42, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Dear Editor,
Thank you for making the appropriate changes and protecting the page from people violating Wikipedia policies. In the recent past, the changes on St. Martinus University Wikipedia pages were done by a competitor name Caribbean Medical University. If you look at the IP address "190.112.246.59". The changes they made on both pages.
I am not sure if something can be done to protect information on Wikipedia from this IP address or what are the policies of Wikipedia to stop these people writing false/incorrect information on Wikipedia pages.
Thank you for your time. Rightinforead (talk) 18:54, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Please help us to update the info on the wiki as it has incorrect information Chandooo (talk) 02:22, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Chandooo And in what reliable sources can independent users verify the information? —C.Fred (talk) 02:50, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- Using the information from university website and also working for the university Chandooo (talk) 04:23, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at a lot of the material in the article, the university website is not acceptable as a counter-source. I don't want to say that all primary sources are invalid, as a primary-sourced statement from an accrediting agency that the university was seeking, or had achieved, accreditation would be accepted; however, a statement from the college about accreditation would be subject to significant scrutiny.
- As far as employees of the university editing the article, if they fail to declare their status, they would be dealt with as undeclared paid editors. @Chandooo: Should we interpret your statement above that you are being paid by the university to edit its article? —C.Fred (talk) 11:48, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
