Spark Energy (USA)

[edit]

There is another separate company which uses the same name. Spark Energy is a Houston-based, independent, multistate certified retail energy and natural gas supplier.[1] In March 2015, the company acquired customer accounts in the PG&E market.[2] The stock trades on Nasdaq.[3] Drchriswilliams (talk) 16:12, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Intro is incorrect and speculative

[edit]

Suggesting an alternative as Spark's operating company was acquired by OVO but continues to operate under its own brand- it currently reads as if the company has ceased trading entirely.

'a series of failures' isnt specific.

Only Spark's supply licence trading company went into administration. - with all 290,000 customers moved to OVO by Ofgem.

Spark Energy also still exists - so 'was an energy company' also incorrect.

alternative below:

'Spark Energy is an electricity and gas supplier, headquartered in Selkirk, Scottish Borders. Ofgem appointed OVO Energy to take over Spark Energy's 290,000 customer accounts after Spark Energy Supply Limited ceased trading. OVO also purchased the operating company and ensured that Spark Energy could continue to serve customers through its existing team.

Prior to this Spark had failed to pay the industry regulator Ofgem £14.4m for their renewables obligation (RO) payment.

Thanks for pointing out the inaccuracies. I rewrote the intro and added to the History section, using two of the mentioned sources and adding some more. --Wire723 (talk) 18:33, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
