Legendary Dark Knight isn't Dante
We know this because in both DMC1 and 3, when playing as the LDK, Dante still keeps all his lines. From the first game, after defeating Phantom for the last time, he says "You're right, I'm his son, Dante." Be pretty stupid for Sparda to refer to himself as Dante.
- Uhh, the Legendary Dark Knight is clearly Sparda. They simply saved some $$ by not changing the cutscenes. --Cornflake pirate 13:38, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
- The only thing that's clear is that it's actually unclear. Since coming down on either side of this argument requires one to make a decision based on circumstantial evidence, the article shouldn't take a stand either way. Doing so is what's called "original research." --Boradis 13:09, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- It doesn't help that Vergil has his own version of the LDK costume, making it even more confusing. --Warp L. Obscura 14:26, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- There's no help to be had unless Capcom decides to spell it out. --Boradis 14:36, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
- Capcom did explain it (on one of their strategy guides, I think), and they said it was originally supossed to be Dante but they Changed it to Sparda. I don't have a citation for it though.--KojiDude (Contributions) 07:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- See if you can find it. That would be a great fact to include. --Boradis 23:32, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Remove Merge tag?
I think it's fair to consider dropping this tag from the page. I'm the first to discuss it here for starters, and I don't think Sparda should be merged into the Characters page. Unlike the characters who's full write-ups are there, Sparda is relevant to the series as a whole, and looks to continue to be so in DMC4, as Nero's organization worships Sparda. As the father of Dante, and in a sense the father to the world Dante lives in, Sparda's presence is felt in every one of the games. --Boradis 02:44, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, it's been nearly two weeks, nobody has said anything either way, and as I said above with Sparda being a major presence in the upcoming game, I'm going to remove the merge tag. --Boradis 03:16, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
