Most awards for Michael Jackson
[edit]The article claims that Michael Jackson holds the record for most Soul Train Music Awards, with 20. However, I can't account for that many from the articles about the awards for the respective years:
- 1987 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1988 Soul Train Music Awards: 2 awards, plus 1 other nomination.
- 1989 Soul Train Music Awards: 2 competitive awards, plus 2 special awards, plus 1 other nomination.
- 1990 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1991 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1992 Soul Train Music Awards: No awards from 2 nominations.
- 1993 Soul Train Music Awards: 2 competitive awards, plus 1 special award, plus 1 other nomination.
- 1994 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1995 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1996 Soul Train Music Awards: No awards from 3 nominations.
- 1997 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1998 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 1999 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations. (However, the award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video was renamed the "The Michael Jackson Award for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Music Video".)
- 2000 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2001 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2002 Soul Train Music Awards: No awards from 1 nomination.
- 2003 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2004 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2005 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2006 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2007 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2008: Awards not held.
- 2009 Soul Train Music Awards: 1 special award (posthumous).
- 2010 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
- 2011 Soul Train Music Awards: No awards [1]. I don't have a nominations list for this year, but Jackson had died in 2009.
- 2012 Soul Train Music Awards: No nominations.
So that's 6 competitive awards for Jackson, 4 special awards, and 9 unsuccessful nominations. I don't see why he is listed as winning 20 awards. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 07:22, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
- He won those in 2011? :-) Loginnigol (talk) 05:45, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
- No, he didn't win anything in 2011, probably because he had been dead for two years and thus was no longer active. I doubt he got any nominations that year either, for the same reason, although I don't have a nominations list for that year at hand. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 01:12, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
