"resulted in cultivation of the Sorana bean nearly ceasing by the 1980s." could be better worded, e.g. "meant that cultivation of the Sorana bean had nearly ceased...".
perhaps define (PGI) at first mention, then use it to avoid repeating "Protected Geographical Indication" all over the place.
Maybe wikilink European Parliament, Tuscany, microclimate, PGI (first time in body), New York Times, Burgundy, extra-virgin olive oil, herbicide, precipitation.
- Images all correctly licensed.

- Hey, Chiswick Chap, I'm back now! I think I've gotten all of these, except for the Barrett, which I've requested from the library again. The Verreschi ref was to a book that is entirely about the bean but unfortunately is unavailable to me (it was published in 1994 in Italy) so I gave page 1 of that book; the citation was only to support the assertion he'd written such a book.
