[edit]- Metrophonic Studios or the venue or even the release date→ not on the body of the article
Lead
[edit]- "which lyrically evokes the September 11 attacks, although it was recorded before they happened." → let's get our facts straight here, it started as a love song, even Cher herself said so...but eventually she saw it in a different light
- "its heartfelt lyrics" → its heartfelt lyrics and beat
- "However, the song was a disappointment on the US Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 85." → Commercially, the song was a disappointment on the US Billboard Hot 100, as it peaked at number 85, but it topped the charts on the Dance/Electronic Singles Sales and the Dance Club Songs charts
- setlists of her 2002–05 Living Proof: The Farewell Tour and her 2008–11 concert residency Cher. → setlists of her Living Proof: The Farewell Tour (2002–05) and her concert residency Cher (2008–11).
Background and release
[edit]- Cher recorded "Song for the Lonely" in summer 2001 in London and was going to include it on her twenty-fourth studio album Living Proof, and it immediately became her favorite song. → Cher recorded "Song for the Lonely" in the summer of 2001 in London and intended to include it on her twenty-fourth studio album Living Proof (2001), it immediately became her favorite song.
- "After 9/11, I was listening to the album one day, and I started listening to that song, and all of a sudden it took on a completely different meaning because, when I listened to the words, oh, you know, when heroes fall in love and war, they live forever" → use your own words more often
- "Song for the Lonely" was one of the best songs she has ever had the opportunity to sing, → "Song for the Lonely" was one of the best tracks she has ever had the opportunity to sing,
- public's reaction → the public's reaction
- "Obviously, we're not exploiting [the September 11 attacks] as a selling point to the single, but it has undeniably drawn the interest of people. We simply feel that we have an incredible song by a truly legendary artist. That's a pretty potent combination to take it to the street" → use your own words more often
Composition
[edit]- Audio sample needs to be reduced and comply with WP:SAMPLE
- Sample needs a description. Honestly, after reading the composition section, you should remove it. It has no context
- Since the world has changed so dramatically, the lyrics have a different weight. They're heavier, yet they're comforting at the same time. Over the past month or so, I've had a number of people tell me that the song has helped them cope. What a humbling compliment" → use your own words more often
Critical reception
[edit]- In a separate review → In a different review
- "Anyone who thought 'Believe' was merely a stroke of good fortune on Cher's mile-long scorecard will be singing a different tune after one spin of the life-affirming '(This Is) A Song for the Lonely [sic]'", because "this track is so good, in fact, that it's up for debate as to whether it actually tops that previous winner". He finished his review by writing that "Boy, is "Song for the Lonely" ever an elixir for whatever ails you, a joyous romp with such mass appeal that its destination at the top of the charts seems a given" → these quotes are away to long I would advise to write it on your own words.
- "Cher takes a brief break from her inquisitiveness about love to dedicate the bold, heartfelt opening track, in honor of the September 11th tragedy, 'Song for the Lonely' to 'the courageous people of New York, especially the firefighters, police, Mayor Giuliani, Governor Pataki'". → same as the previous
- "clearly intends to evoke September 11th," adding "Coming from a willfully wiggy billion-dollar diva, this noble stuff feels calculated, particularly when it’s presented in such a sparkling, showbizzy package. Cher believes in love — no problem. Convincing us she's a selfless social commentator demands a much taller leap of faith. → same as the previous
Chart performance
[edit]- on the issue dated April 6, 2002.[11] It additionally spent six weeks inside the chart → on the issue dated April 6, 2002, spending six weeks inside the chart.[11][12]
- Repetitive vocabulary instead of song try "single" and even "recording"
- in other component charts, such as topping both the Dance/Electronic Singles Sales and the Dance Club Songs charts → in other component charts by topping the Dance/Electronic Singles Sales and the Dance Club Songs charts.
- as well as peaking within the top twenty on the Adult Contemporary chart → It also peaking within the top twenty on the Adult Contemporary chart
- and peaking on the peaking → just NO, "and peaking on the top forty on the..."
- although the song → although it
Music video
[edit]Live performances
[edit]- The sources here are confusing. Put the three of them at the end of the sentence.
- The Today Show was not mentioned despite being in the first source. Dates (month, day and year) of the performances should also be added as they are cited in the given sources. Otherwise is a supermarket list if details can be added from those sources even better.
Usage in media
[edit]- Merge this setion with the one above and call it "Live performances and usage in media"
- One pragraph, despite the gap diference between the years

Overall
[edit]- 41.9% violation on the copyright from the CNN.com Transcripts. Needs to be reworded, despite being direct quotes, they are just too long.
- No release history or text with production section. I believe everyone (producers, writers, engineers, and others) that worked on the track should be mentioned on a small paragraph.
- @11JORN: This article is nowhere near close to GA quality, nevertheless if you are willing to accept and make these changes along with a GOCE after, I'm willing to wait that time. I will give you one week to address these changes and we will talk after that. I might have to give this a second look and address some issues by myself, before GOCE. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 00:51, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Nominator was not responsive, on top of that the article has several issues that a simple GA wouldn't fix. MarioSoulTruthFan (talk) 00:33, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
