Pronunciation

[edit]

As there are no Latin native speakers alive, we have to make assumptions about pronunciation based on what we know about Latin, how it was transcribed in other languages of that time, and other linguistic parameters. Thus there are two or three assumed pronunciation variations of Latin. None of them is an "English-like" one.

So the pronunciation of "solvitur ambulando" cannot be [ˈsɒlvɪtər ˌæmbjʊˈlændoʊ], as this would be like English speakers would pronounce it.

The pronunciation is ['solvitur ambu'lando]. No [jʊ] and no [oʊ], and no ɒ,ə or æ in it. ;-) Elana T. (talk) 10:09, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just made a change to reflect that "v" in Latin is pronounced as "w," if that helps. Wii sports resort cycling olympian (talk) 15:37, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article features an English, not a Latin transcription. --Omnipaedista (talk) 05:58, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
