Rodolfo Valentin was the designer of the first hair prosthesis in the world. IT IS CORRECTLY TRUE. Rodolfo Valentin designed the first hair prosthesis in the world in 1973.In fact he creates it for his mother a chemotherapy patient losing her hair. Before then, people losing their hair due to chemotherapy treatments only had available regular wigs that were very uncomfortable and keep felling off from their head and giving them bad allergic reactions from the contact with the material and the foreign hair. The difference between wig and hair prosthesis is that a wig does not uses hypoallergenic material (inexistent until few decades ago)…and the double tape (invented for medical reasons) is also available from few decades ago. Rodolfo used that tape to hold the wig in the head of the patients when getting “bald” after chemotherapy, and slowly adding special pin-clips to hold it when the hair returned to grow back again. Rodolfo was the designer of taking the cranial mold, use a hypoallergenic material to create a base where to attach the ventilated hair (one by one) making sure that the hair does not touch the over sensitive cranial skin to avoid sores. He called it "cancer wig" and some people still do, the name of "hair prosthesis" came out for insurance purposes, because insurances only cover "prosthesis" from there the name of "hair prosthesis" ( prostheses) for plural.
- Hair prosthesis has been around for thousands of years. As have leg, arm, nose prosthetics.
- Cancer wigs have been around for much longer than 1973. Please take your advertising and false statements out of wikipedia. you are spamming.Walker42 22:10, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
scalp prosthetic hair is only in the market since chemotherapy treatments, before it wasn't available. I think Rodolfo Valentin is right. Ralicia 04:06, 29 April 2007 (UTC)ralicia
Merger of Sofia's Hair 4 Health article
[edit]- Have proposed the merge and will go ahead with it considering a reasonable amount of time has passed and I see no opposition.
- Feel the article Sofia's Hair 4 Health is not that substantial and is covered well enough in Rodolfo Valentin article. also the references for "Sofia's Hair for Health" article are all self-published....
Thanks, --RavensFists (talk) 17:11, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Do not merge article
[edit]I don't agree in merging the articles. Sofia's hair for health is a CHARITY article, Rodolfo Valentin is a BIOGRAPHY article. I feel the article ( Sofia's hair for health) is very substantial, and very valuable information for people that are having chemotherapy and cannot afford to buy an expensive hair prosthesis ( more than 4 thousand dollars, as it was my situation)... How many people in this world are ready to give their own money away to help others?. I think this article deserves a page in its own.Nicole reutman (talk) 12:57, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Rodolfo Valentin, and Sofia's hair for health
[edit]The two articles should be kept individual. they are two different things. they shouldn't be merged. Also your statement about that "you didn't have opposition is because there were only a few days since you sugested that. Anyway let me tell you that you have improved Rodolfo Valentin biography very very well.Susy parker (talk) 02:21, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Don't merge articles
[edit]they are not the same, keep them separate. jormarie 17:47, 6 August 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rodoval (talk • contribs)
- To reply to both your comments first let me say your claim that the articles are different is wrong in my view. In Rodolfo Valentin's article Sofia's Hair 4 Health is discussed under the Philanthrophy section, the only difference being some unreferenced claims, quoting the article "The hair designer, only wants to see many more smiling faces while improving their health and enhancing their appearance." This is the only difference and where is the source?

- As for the no opposition statement, I meant if a decent amount of time passes with no opposition I will merge them. However if you seriously want these article kept separate then improve the article and provide several reasons they should remain separate, outside of they're different and stating the Sofia's Hair 4 Health article is substantial. Both claims are clearly wrong in my opinion. --RavensFists (talk) 17:59, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
- (On a side note I would like to know why Rodoval keeps signing his comments as jormarie?)
***Note*** - the disussion is now consolidated to a single page at Talk:Rodolfo Valentin#Merger of Sofia's Hair 4 Health article. Please make any comments about the merger propsal there. Thanks. -- Whpq (talk) 20:31, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
