Smithiastrum category necessary?
[edit]@Plantdrew sorry for the ping; I was just wondering whether it was necessary to create a new category for Smithiastrum species, as there are only two of them. What is the normal protocol for categorizing articles for species in very small genera? Nicholaswei (talk) 17:27, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Nicholaswei:, very small genera don't get their own categories (see WP:SMALLCAT). Species in small genera should be in categories for families (or subfamilies). There's no firm number on how small is too small for a category. 10 category members has been floated as a lower limit in some discussions at WikiProject Plants. I've sometimes made categories with less than 10 members for larger genera with few currently existing species articles. Plantdrew (talk) 18:20, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Plantdrew sounds good, thanks! I've changed the category to Campanuloideae. Nicholaswei (talk) 18:28, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
