Article name

[edit]

The long-ish name is out of step with other fraternity articles. I'd suggest "Sigma Phi Sigma (professional)" instead, with hatlinks for the two that share the same name. These would be:

{{About|the professional funeral service practitioners fraternity|the dormant national fraternity with a similar name|Sigma Phi Sigma}}

and for the article Sigma Phi Sigma:

{{About|the dormant national fraternity|the the professional funeral service practitioners fraternity with a similar name|Sigma Phi Sigma (professional)}}

Works for me. Rublamb (talk) 18:55, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
At some points we should make sure that the existing social fraternity would be viewed as primary, but that doesn't need to happen until after this gets to mainspace.Naraht (talk) 21:34, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Naraht, do you think it is ready? I cannot find any other major sources. Rublamb (talk) 21:59, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This doesn't even count as a stub anymore :)
The next time I am at my laptop, I will move it to mainspace. And I have found a few more sources for chapter locations and approximate chartering. Naraht (talk) 23:18, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a preliminary infobox and these hatnotes, in anticipation of promotion to mainspace and the adjustment of the professional fraternity's name. Jax MN (talk) 00:06, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Coat of Arms

[edit]

I'm presuming the coat of arms is related to the banner on the table at https://www.instagram.com/p/B3Vh1RLAba-/?hl=en , but I'm not sure that grabbing it from that image would be appropriate.Naraht (talk) 15:01, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Collaboration! Nice catch. I used it; you can see the resulting image, cropped, and significantly adjusted from that original photo, and now on the page. I'm not yet comfortable adding color swatches without a corroborating source. Some chapters show use of purple and white, and often use black, but this may be simply riffing on the theme of death.
