Introduction

Shujaat Azeem born in November 9, 1951, is the former Special Assistant (equivalent to a Minster) on Aviation to the Prime Minister, Mr. Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif due to his prowess in the Aviation sector. Prior to Special Assistance, he was the Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. He served in these positions from 2013 – 2015 on a Minister status and fulfilled his responsibilities pro-bono. During his tenure his major achievements were a comprehensive National Aviation Policy, for the reform and development of the Aviation sector of Pakistan, and reduction of losses in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) by 38%. Earlier he was the Chief Pilot for the fleet of His Excellency Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon. Azeem is an influential Pakistani business magnate. Aviation

In his years (2013 – 2016) first as the Advisor and then the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, Azeem has contributed significantly towards modernizing and changing the aviation sector in Pakistan. These positions, which he served pro-bono, carried a Minister status. He was appointed to these positions based on his credentials and extensive experience in aviation and commerce.Arslan Akbar 05:29, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

One of his biggest achievement, during this time, was the development of a comprehensive National Aviation Policy, for the reform and development of the aviation sector of Pakistan. Another significant achievement was the improvement in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). His strategic decisions reduced losses for PIA by 38%. It is under his leadership that the downward spiraling PIA, bounced back on an upward trend. In his tenure the PIA fleet size doubled. Azeem also brought a cultural change to the National Flag Carrier: introducing on-time performance measurement procedures; setting up a new industry based Board of Directors comprising of industry leaders and experts; and cultivating relations to bring international carries for local routes to increase revenue for Pakistan. During his tenure as the Advisor and Special Assistant, the Multan International Airport was inaugurated, Islamabad International Airport and the Hajj Lounge Lahore were renovated, Quetta International Airport was established and expansion of the Faisalabad International Airport was initiated. Azeem led the introduction of technology in aviation management by upgrading the Radio Navigation Aids and Instrument Landing Systems, replacing passenger aero-bridges in Karachi, installing Integrated Security Systems and installation of Equipment/ Scanners at Karachi, Lahore & Islamabad International Airports. Azeem had joined the service of His Excellency Hariri, Prime Minister of Lebanon as Chief Pilot. He continued to serve with His Excellency for the nex few years. On his return to Pakistan, he continued his engagement with the Aviation sector, moving into Aviation Management. In 1995, Azeem, established Royal Airport Services, where he introduced modern standards in airport handling services. His goal was to establish a start-of-the-art operation to encourage international carriers to come to Pakistan, a goal he successfully achieved and continue to service 13 international airlines in Pakistan. Shujaat Azeem started his career in Aviation as a Pakistan Air-force General Duty Pilot. He joined the service in 1968 and continued to serve till 1979. He left the service and proceeded for further studies to the United States where he obtained his commercial pilots license and certifications from the United States. Business

In 1992, Shujaat Azeem founded Apollo Telecom (Pvt.) Ltd., one of Pakistan’s leading technology solution providers. During his time in Apollo, Azeem held the positions of CEO and President. In 1994, his company was the technology provider to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) to establish the first Public Data Network for the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Pakistan, which went live in 1995. In 1999 he established Unicus Business Services (Pvt.) Ltd. and worked there as its CEO. Unicus, won the U-fone GSM Contract, establishing the countrywide U-fone network. In 2004 Azeem established a state-of-the-art housing scheme in Lahore, Pakistan, Sukh Chayn Gardens (Pvt.) Ltd. The scheme is built on canal road a famous landmark of the city. The scheme was established to provide quality housing and superior services and infrastructure to the residents of this historical city. Azeem built the colony enabled with technology like sensor based garbage collection, addressed security needs by introducing constant manned and dog patrols, and dedicated 50% of the area as green-areas to preserve and enrich the environment. The colony is also host to a replica of The Blue Mosque [Istanbul]. In 2005, Azeem, augmenting his area of expertise, started a licensed aircraft ground handling company, Royal Airport Services (Pvt.) Ltd (RAS). In a short span, the company had taken over a majority market share of ground handling services in Pakistan. Currently, the company serves 6 major airports for 13 international Airlines. Philanthropy

Shujaat Azeem, funds and operates many different philanthropic initiatives in the education, shelter, poverty alleviation, and food security sectors. His endeavors aim to bring about sustainable change for the betterment of the people.Arslan Akbar 05:32, 20 September 2016 (UTC)

In 2011, he established a model village in Rajanpur, Punjab consisting of 270 houses and provided vocational and other allied facilities to the residents of the village. He also runs a free education institution, in Pakistan’s capital city, Islamabad, which provides free quality primary and secondary education to students. Azeem, also runs food security programs and has established a sustenance fund for widows.
