News sources that mention it
[edit]Google news has ample results for this at [1] and "Shirley+Jackson+Awards"&sa=N&tbs=nws:1,ar:1#q="Shirley Jackson Award"&hl=en&tbs=nws:1,ar:1&source=lnt&sa=X&ei=M0i5TLuMDcL6lwfI1NGzDQ&ved=0CBIQpwU&fp=68217dd9ae851acb, as well as results at Google books. The Salon article I can't link to right now because their site is down for maintenance. Adding that link when its back up tomorrow. Dream Focus 06:46, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
- Someone winning the award is notable enough to be mentioned in an article about them or their work. I used Google's news archive search for "Shirley Jackson Award" to find places mentioning people that won it and "Shirley Jackson Awards" for finding places that talked about the awards themselves. That's enough to prove notability I believe. If not, look through the book results. Dream Focus 06:52, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Award not Awards
[edit]I Google searched their official site for "Shirley Jackson Award", singular, and got results. [2] On the main page even, http://www.shirleyjacksonawards.org/ it says:
- The Shirley Jackson Award will be voted upon by a jury of professional writers, editors, critics, and academics, with input from a Board of Advisors. The awards will be given for the best work published in the preceding calendar year in the following categories: Novel, Novella, Novelette, Short Story, Single-Author Collection, and Edited Anthology.
So that's it. Dream Focus 13:14, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Primary source listing awards is fine.
[edit]I see no reason to have a reference next to something, which links to a page mentioning the book one this award among others, and nothing more about this article's subject. There is no doubt as to who won what, that information listed on the official site, so there is no need to find mention elsewhere of who won what award. Dream Focus 00:00, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
Listing all those nominated as well as those who won
[edit]The Academy Awards have pages for each category, and list everyone nominated, with the winner listed up top with a different color for that section. That might all fit on one page here since this award hasn't been around as long and doesn't have as many categories or nominations. Dream Focus 00:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
