Sherman statement
[edit]Has anyone ever said the Sherman statement but then run for and maybe even won, whether for President or something else? Nil Einne 14:49, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- The article now gives the example of Scotland’s Alex Salmond.
Didn’t somebody modify the Sherman statement by adding something like: “But if earnestly requested, I will reconsider”?TheTruth-2009 (talk) 09:40, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
Rice`s statement
[edit]From what I saw on the "meet the press" script, dr. Rice may not have used the Shermanesque statement word for word, but did say in plain English that she WILL NOT RUN. It`s stronger than simply saying "I have no intention of running". Asalmog 20:32, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- What's the point of even listing two people who have NOT made a Shermanesque statement under the Examples section?? Andrew Cuomo
[edit]Why was my andrew cuomo change reverted? This article defines a shermanesque statement as a 'clear and direct statement by a potential candidate indicating that he or she will not run for a particular elected position'. Cuomo said 'no' 16 times, that's clear and direct.
