[edit]Someone who sent an email to Wikipedia has pointed out that Shel Talmy was born in 1941 and that he live in Los Angeles until he moved to London. I haven't managed to find an exact source to verify this, but the subject's homepage (http://www.sheltalmy.com/) and a two part interview here and here may be of some use in this matter. I think this a relevent article, but it's really messy. I'll try to add some sources and stuff, please don't remove it yet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.78.151.94 (talk) 06:42, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- The present article is a mess - it reads like fan worship, and suffers from a thoroughly non-encyclopedic approach. It may be 'true', but needs some serious sub-editing from someone with a knowledge of the subject, and indeed Wikipedia. Please help if you can,
- Meatball surgery coming up :) --Technopat (talk) 19:56, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- After having done some meatball surgery on it, as threatened above, another editor has just added even more non-encyclopedic hype. This is an article for an encyclopaedia, not a A&R/PR handout... --Technopat (talk) 10:06, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Dedicated "List of recordings produced by Shel Talmy"
[edit]Shel Talmy did not produce Waterloo Sunset. Ray Davies did, if the wikipedia article about the song is correct -- and I believe it is. Cbellomy (talk) 18:38, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Following the amazing amount of work done recently by Derek R Bullamore, I was thinking that maybe we should take some of the weight off this article and set up a separate "List of...". A frequent (and sometimes justified) criticism by some deletionists here at Wikipedia is that an article is a "mere list", whereas if it is formally presented as a "List of...", they rarely seem to object. Feedback? --Technopat (talk) 15:23, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Shel Talmy was born August 11 1937. His brother, the noted linguist, was born in 1941. Talmy lived in Chicago, and then moved to Los Angeles before going to England. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.83.43.6 (talk) 16:40, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
It's a shame that a previous version of this article was replaced by this one. It was better researched, more informative, and more objective. It looks like this article was written by the subject himself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.83.43.6 (talk) 16:43, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Shel Talmy's birthday is Aug 11 1937. He is four years older than his brother Leonard, who was born in 1941. Talmy was born and lived in Chicago, and moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. After leaving community college, he went to England. He returned to Los Angeles in 1980. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.116.134.170 (talk) 05:53, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Clean Up
[edit]This article was bordering on unreadable so I've started to clean it up. I will update as I go, hope to have citations and additional info within the week. please do not remove the Rebecca Walker reference, it's an important part of her biography and talmy's. --CatherineHubescher (talk) 18:36, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Waterloo Sunset (song)
[edit]The article here on Mr. Talmy, under discography, notes that he produced Waterloo Sunset. But when you follow the link embedded to that song, it says that the song was produced by Ray Davies, as Mr. Talmy's contract with the band had expired. Not sure which is correct, but I think both Talmy and Davies may still be alive. 2600:6C55:6300:6A28:81F4:F9DA:8163:1C6E (talk) 20:18, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
