Can we add this?

[edit]

Sharjeel Imam tested positive for Covid-19 and got coverage for many independent sources. Should we add this in th article?

Nothing is mentioned forbidding mentioning health issues in Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.
If it is mentioned, it should be mentioned in the context of his being in prison that holds just over 1,000 inmates, and that Dasarath Das (Inspector General of Prisons in Assam) has said that at least 435 inmates of the prison have tested positive for the disease this year.[1]-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:01, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank You. It would be great pleasure for me if you add this. So that I can learn how you add this and where you do it in the article. — The Chunky urf Al Kashmiri (Speak🗣️ or Write✍️) 19:00, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Degrees

[edit]

Why are you reverting my changes? he has Btech + Mtech dual degree from IITB. Use brain before reverting. -naash — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.66.127 (talk) 16:31, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The edit you made was this. The sources cited for his degrees are:
  • Swaroop, Vijay (29 January 2020). "Sharjeel Imam, a 'quiet, bright' student now in the limelight". Hindustan Times. Retrieved 21 July 2020.
  • Khan, Fatima (28 January 2020). "Sharjeel Imam, the IIT graduate in JNU who called out Left's 'Islamophobia'". ThePrint. Retrieved 22 July 2020.
They do not support the changes you made. Wikipedia has a policy that says that "all material added to articles must be attributable to a reliable, published source". The verifiability policy says that an inline citation to a reliable source must be provided for anything challenged or likely to be challenged. So what reliable sources support the changes you made?-- Toddy1 (talk) 18:49, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
His own facebook profile mentions it. I am his batchmate from the same college. But I guess you will only be satisfied if a newspaper publishes his degrees? This is stupid. -naash — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.215.99.34 (talk) 23:01, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you are right. The same rules on the need for reliable third-party sources that cause Wikipedia editors to disallow claims like this,[2] also disallow claims about his education that are backed only by editor opinion/personal knowledge and Facebook posts.-- Toddy1 (talk) 14:01, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Toddy, here is a published link https://www.youthkiawaaz.com/2020/10/facts-are-important-sharjeel-imam-and-perception-of-abhijit-majumder-a-rebuttal/ can we correct the info now please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.69.221.207 (talk) 15:07, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Remove this line from the infobox as |home_town= is not a supported {{infobox person}} parameter:

| home_town = Jehanabad, Bihar

Lead

[edit]

The lead needs to mention Sharjeel's arrest but in context of the weaponization of law by a Hindu Supremacist government against religious minorities, as has been documented by a dozen sources. TrangaBellam (talk) 21:11, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
