Looks like this was translated from the Italian, and it could do with some cleanup. I see this is mentioned in a new book Plutocrats by Freeman, but he dates it to 1315, not sure if anything happened that year. Justinc (talk) 10:37, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Quick update. I have completed the translation to the best of my knowledge. Maybe somebody may want to check punctuation and capital letters. As I am no expert on the subject, I have no addition to make in terms of references. However, I think my translation is an improvement from the original one, and also an improvement with regards to the Italian one, which is not hard to read but tells the whole story in a rather paternalistic tone and by using complex phrases to explain simple concepts.
