What lexicographers do
[edit]Regarding the clause, "Lexicographers have often failed to allow for semantic prosody when defining a word", isn't "allow for" being used wrongly? Why should definitions "allow for" connotations? Perhaps lexicographers ought to study, elucidate, or write articles about them, rather than "making allowances" for them. - Perhaps the author had a dim view of lexicographers, allowing for that they're all dolts, and simple chose the most neutral phrasing he could think of to describe their work. :-) 67.198.37.16 (talk) 16:50, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
