Merge of Adelaide Gang Show
[edit]Articles on individual Gang Shows have not been considered sufficiently notable to have their own article in the past and this is no different. There is already mention of it at Gang Show and it should be mentioned at Scouting in South Australia which needs more content. Please give you views below. I support the meerge. --Bduke 18:48, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- Support lacking third party references but is one of the biggest events in the state. Needs a mention but not it's own article. :: maelgwn - talk 07:55, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- Give one of the oldest gang shows its own article. merging it with scouting in south australia shouldnt be done as it will get lost in all the other garbage in scouting that isnt worth mentioning, especially with SA scout association. Leave it where it is. put in in with the other lot will mean it will probably get sold off anyway like everything else they get their hands on!!! B1isthebest 13:10, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Support You have two options: merge it and you get a redirect here; else wait long enough and someone will AfD it for notability and and possible recreation will be tainted. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 23:07, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Comment. The view expressed by B1isthebest are not very clear or appear to be based on the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia. It was also the first and only contribution by this user. I plan to do the merge in the next few days unless there are better arguments to keep it. --Bduke 10:04, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I have redirected to Gang_Show#Australia for the moment, feel free to change it to this article if wanted but content was the same as the gangshow article, so it's pointing there for the moment. :: maelgwn - talk 07:05, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- I think that is fine. Nevertheless I believe that some mention of this Gang Show should be on the Scouting in South Australia page. There is a brief mention of the Brisbane Show on the Queensland Scouting article and perhaps we need to look at all the Australian Shows to cover them properly on the State articles. --Bduke 07:13, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed and at that point we can reconsider the redirect. :: maelgwn - talk 07:35, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
This article was created and then speedy deleted. Its content was:-
"Eastern Districts Scout District is within metropolitan Adelaide and comprises five council areas: Burnside, Campbelltown, Prospect, Kensington, and Norwood/Payneham/St Peters. Originally it was known as District 'B' and later became Eastern District. In 1963, it was divided into three districts: Burnside, Campbelltown and Eastern Suburbs. In 1991, Burnside and City of Campbelltown were amalgamated and 'Eastern Districts' was reborn. For many years it included the Scout Groups: Athelstone, Beaumont, College Park, Magill, Pembroke, Tranmere, Stradbroke and Rose Park/Norwood. Recently Gilberton Scout Group has been added to the district.<references/www.sa.scouts.com.au>"
I have suggested to the editor that created it that perhaps one sentence can be added to Scouting in South Australia. --Bduke (talk) 08:13, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
