Pattisson has asked for his name to be removed as he is English
[edit]"A double Olympic Games gold medallist wants to quit the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame – because he is English... he now regrets being persuaded to join as he can’t convince people of his true nationality. Pattisson, 68, whose parents were English, was only born in Scotland because his airman dad was posted there in World War II. The family left a couple of months later and Pattisson has spent his entire life down south. He said last night: “When somebody from the hall of fame rang me up, I told them I wasn’t Scottish. They convinced me that it didn’t matter. They said being born in Campbeltown was good enough. I gathered they were pretty short of Olympic gold medallists and they were scraping the barrel. I didn’t realise the consequences – but I would certainly have turned it down if I’d known. It has proved an embarrassment to me to always have to tell people I’m not Scottish. You can Google me and they’ll say I’m Scottish. I’m not anti-Scottish, but I want the facts to be correct. I’ve tried to change things on Google and Wikipedia but it’s well nigh impossible.” ... A spokeswoman for sportscotland said: “The selection panel for the Scottish Sport Hall of Fame is an independent body. We understand they will be discussing the possibility of removing Mr Pattisson as an inductee.” Pattisson, who lives in Poole, Dorset, said: “Most people would not like to be labelled with the wrong nationality and have to read it again and again.”

Rodney PAttison is out of this? see:
Dear Sir or Madam
Many thanks for your email.
Apologies there has been a mistake in not having Rodney Pattison's name removed from the name search.
Mr Pattisson agreed to be inducted into the Scottish Sport Hall of Fame in 2002 and was eligible because he was born in Scotland. However, it was reported late last year that that Mr Pattisson had misgivings about being an inductee and, when contacted about this matter, said he wished to be withdrawn. The Hall of Fame panel met and agreed to withdraw Mr Pattisson as it fully respects the wishes of the athlete. We have now amended the website to reflect that.
Many thanks,

- I've readded Pattisson's name as a former member and stated the removal date, just so the numbers add up (99 total inductees at time of writing) CiphriusKane (talk) 14:27, 16 September 2021 (UTC)
