A person named Sastyapriya Roy won the Tollyganj seat in 1971 according to this ECI source. Would the names be equivalent in Bengali? -MPGuy2824 (talk) 03:56, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That said, this is nothing more than a silly typing mistake

Satyapriya Roy won the Tollygunge seat in 1971, and has been elected to the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly several times before that. Abcd amureet (talk) 04:50, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This will surely clear your doubts Abcd amureet (talk) 07:22, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Its not clear what year this by-election was. In any case, please add this source to the article. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:40, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ok let me see Abcd amureet (talk) 10:12, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He contested two Vidhan Sabha elections in 1969 and 1971. Niranjan Sengupta won earlier in 1969 but passed away in the same year. That means bye election was held in 1969, where Shri Satyapriya Roy won. Hope I could break this doubt too. https://books.google.co.in/books?id=RYZRAQAAMAAJ&q=satyapriya+roy+elections&dq=satyapriya+roy+elections&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiTqcj34v_4AhUYRmwGHQHyAy8Q6AF6BAgLEAM Abcd amureet (talk) 11:08, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
