Move this article

[edit]

The airport authority calls it Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport so I think the article needs moving. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 17:22, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is what it is called and the page name should probably change. --M@sk 04:22, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport pictures on commons now. Don't know the types of aircrafts. SriMesh | talk 22:49, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anybody got airport photos that have, you know, snow in them? That would be a little more representative of an airport at 52 degrees N latitude. --Spiff666 (talk) 20:29, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are now an assortment of aiport photos with the white stuff in them. SriMesh | talk 20:46, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Montreal

[edit]

There are no non-stop flights between Saskatoon and Montreal. Air Canada Jazz flight 8982 has a stopover in Ottawa. Please stop adding Montreal as an Air Canada Jazz destination. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.72.27.204 (talk) 03:01, 14 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WestJet flights to Winnipeg

[edit]

Per the WestJet route map, these flights are year-round, not seasonal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.72.27.204 (talk) 03:43, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Go to the WestJet website and select "Flights->Check Schedules" you will see that during Summer 09 there are no non-stop flights between YXE and Winnipeg. --M@sk (talk) 01:41, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

United Express to Chicago O'Hare

[edit]

Per http://airlineroute.net/2010/02/18/ua-yxe-s10/ Saskatoon is no longer served by a non-stop connection to O'Hare (as of June 10, 2010, it's a one-stopper at YQR, Regina). The article on YQR accurately reflects this. I have thus removed Chicago-O'Hare from the list of United Express destinations under Airlines and destinations/Scheduled service. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agwhitter (talkcontribs) 02:48, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT, genuine one-stop direct flights are to be listed. I've restored the listing. HkCaGu (talk) 18:34, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Naming

[edit]

I always found it ironic, in light of the Arrow, that Diefenbaker's name is forever honoured by an airport. Has there or was there ever any talk about renaming? It'd be a curious thing to know. Skippingrock (talk) 21:39, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, look… I might be on to something… It does seem like YXE is moving away from the name with Skyxe Saskatoon International Airport being prominent on their website and a description of such [1] You have to really look for Diefenbaker's name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skippingrock (talkcontribs) 21:50, 14 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Level of Detail

[edit]

Is it really necessary to include such fine grain changes to flight schedules at the airport, such as adding a third weekly flight to Phoenix or third daily flight to Edmonton? Personally, I would be in favour of only including major changes in the body of the article - such as an airline starting or ending service to the airport - and leave the specific destinations for the table in the Airlines and destinations section. I've made some changes to remove duplicate information today, but thought I would make a comment here and get thoughts from others before making more drastic changes.

Similarly, is it really necessary to include such detailed information about passenger numbers year after year. Personally, I think this adds a lot of bloat without adding much of substance. I would think a couple of representative numbers to show the current volume of passengers and an older one for comparison would be plenty. Or perhaps an infobox with the numbers year-by-year, instead of a detailed description in the body of the article.

Thoughts? Wolfrock (talk) 02:57, 29 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, it's been close to two weeks since I made this comment and there has been no comments from others in the meantime, so I will be bold and start making changes based on my comments above. In particular, 1) removing changes to the flight schedule, since Wikipedia is not a newspaper and 2) removing the numbers of passengers year after year in the Expansion 2014 section since it is just makes this section so bloated. The passenger numbers for two years is already in the lead of the article, so I am not sure why we need them for so many years in the Expansion 2014 section. I will leave the passenger numbers in the lead of the article since some of this information is certainly needed in the article, but I think that is enough. Wolfrock (talk) 15:21, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've left the stuff on New Leaf and Missinippi in the article since an airline starting or stopping service to the airport is much more notable than schedule changes. Still want to improve the discussion on these airlines and find more references. Wolfrock (talk) 15:42, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
