Map coordinates
[edit]The map coordinates are way off. They point, for no apparent reason, to the shopping mall across the street from the old mint. (The Google Map has even been tagged to reflect the incorrect Wikipedia coordinates.) The current mint is a couple miles away near the intersection of Market and Dolores. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.82.151 (talk) 02:53, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
Square Footage
[edit]Sixty square feet of floor space? Zuh? Where is this from? Nhahmada 08:25, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
2009 Quarters
[edit]I read (in a catalougue) that the San Franciso Mint is putting out some of the 2009 quarters. That would make an interesting addition to the article.--162.6.97.3 (talk) 20:08, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

A new article should probably be created
[edit]Currently this article seem's to have 2 subjects, a old mint, and a new mint building. As these are each important building's, I am considering creating a new article just for the old building, in order to put the focus on the current state of the San Francisco Mint, instead of the current heavy focus on the old building. Does anyone else agree with me? I'm happy to do all the work by myself, i'd just like community input. Lectrician2 (talk) 17:03, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- Lectrician2 Maybe this will clear up some confusion. The term "San Francisco Mint" refers to the branch of the United States Mint that currently operates from the "New Mint" building, not the building itself. The move to the new building did not create a new branch, therefore the current San Francisco Mint is still the same branch that has operated since 1854. That said, I would not be opposed to separate articles on the buildings themselves, and the Old Mint section currently includes details that are not necessarily relevant to its use by the San Francisco Mint. - ZLEA T\C 17:31, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- It's interesting, because this seems to be more of a article on the old mint, and the buildings themselves, the main photo is the old min,t which really has nothing to do with the current San Francisco Mint. Lectrician2 (talk) 17:50, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- The article is a bit misleading, I think a rewrite is in order to shift the focus to the branch rather than the buildings. - ZLEA T\C 18:04, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- I completely agree, but at the same time, the old mint is also on the NRHP, so it probably is deserving of it's own article. At this point i think in the next few week's i'm going to go ahead and create a new article, while also consolidating this, plus adding a new info-box for the current "new" mint. If you want to split up the tasks, as I realize you are quite interested in coins, you could handle the current article, and I could make a new one? Lectrician2 (talk) 18:09, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
- Created a draft at Draft:Old San Francisco Mint (building) you can go ahed and edit this article. Lectrician2 (talk) 18:18, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
