Coptic name

[edit]

What on god's earth is the need for it?AhmadNN (talk) 23:56, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article's subject was born into a Coptic family, so including that version of the name seems approrpriate. Your edit was reverted. --ZimZalaBim talk 00:39, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK. It's important to remind you that it is a dead language, since when are did languages used in that way? Arabic is the one and only official language in Egypt. Furthermore, he has never written anything in Coptic, what value is writing his name adding? Would you write a Guatemalan's name with the Mayan script?AhmadNN (talk) 00:44, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In accordance with the guidelines at MOS:FORLANG, there should be a maximum of one foreign-language translation in the first sentence. Arabic would seem to be appropriate. Many articles still do have more than one, and if there is WP:CONSENSUS that it's necessary in this case to go against the Manual of Style, it can be possible. It seems to me though, that AhmadNN's argument, combined with the style guidelines, is more persuasive. --IamNotU (talk) 17:00, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
