Dimensions? or was it a Liberty ship, at all?
[edit]Please check dimensions or verify Liberty origins. No matter how deep the refit, a Liberty could not be extended to 520 ft. Or did they insert a mid-section into the hull? This source [1] says it was a Type C4 ship. NVO (talk) 00:09, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- And this one also lists Marine Star as a C4-S-B5. Kablammo (talk) 01:44, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- Not a "Liberty" — some popular sources of later years just stuck that on any war built ship — and neither was it ever a "troop ship" or operated by "Navy" at any time. It was a breakbulk freighter as seen in all sources (other than local reporting decades later) operated briefly by the WSA agent commercial line before a rather spoty charter life until long term lay up. All in all the more interesting story on this ship is as Aquarama thought the facts would better be taken elsewhere than local reporters in popular press pieces.
