This is a very well-written article that qualifies for GA class. I have an eagle eye for typos but only found one issue. Please resolve the following. Thanks. Djmaschek (talk) 02:55, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The infobox says the ship was commissioned on 1 September 1878. However, that was the date of the name change. The text states that it was commissioned on 1 September 1877.

Oh never mind. This was a 1 character fix, so I made it myself. PASS. Djmaschek (talk) 03:10, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rear Admiral MacLean

[edit]

...in the summer of 1880 the German navy in the Baltic was commanded by RearAdmiral MacLean, "the noble descendant of a noble Scottish emigrant, who accompanied Keith to Berlin in the time of Frederick the Great," according to the Globe, " and was the first Prussian naval cadet. He early distinguished himself, took an active part in the improvement of the German navy, and commanded the Prinz Aldabert on her late voyage round the world. His resignation is generally deplored, as it will deprive the Imperial service of one of its most experienced and valuable officers." - The Scottish Soldiers of Fortune Their adventures and achievements in the armies of Europe by James Grant (1889) Shipsview (talk) 11:19, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It seems Maclean had previously been the captain of SMS Prinz Adalbert (1865), an ironclad ram originally ordered for the Confederate States Navy. Shipsview (talk) 19:55, 14 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
