What is this word "sarfus" -- origins? etymology?

[edit]

Is it short for something? I see it written in capitals sometimes, SARFUS, suggesting an acronym. 2A00:23C5:FE0C:2100:244B:D845:419E:D2F6 (talk) 22:14, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Marginal page

[edit]

Essentially the only links to the name in Google are to a commercial product. I think this is an advert in hiding, open to an AfD unless more and better can be demonstrated. Ldm1954 (talk) 19:23, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be replaced with an article on Surface enhanced ellipsometric contrast microscopy which could be supported by public research from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, found here: Surface enhanced ellipsometric contrast (SEEC) basic theory and lambda/4 multilayered solutions. Such an article might also explain any difference there may be between this and Wet-Surface enhanced ellipsometric contrast microscopy. EmergentRandomness (talk) 16:15, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please draft a merged article with both topics and more on SEEC . You will need more than one source, and it should be inclusive. I strongly suggest that you start something in your Sandbox, and not jump straight into the main pages. Ldm1954 (talk) 16:27, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I meant to be inviting someone with actual knowledge of the subject to start the article, as you did more directly. If no one with experience steps up to the challenge after a while, and I get more ambitious, I may give it a try. EmergentRandomness (talk) 16:56, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

References to Sarfus to be removed

[edit]

This was given to me as an "easy" task for my first Wikipedia edit, but it seems to be rather involved.  The only references to Sarfus are two links that go to a warning, "Web server is down" and a reference to a company called Amprox. I will remove the links and the two sections that reference them.  I will add a link to a review article that describes the Sarfus Mapping station, which seems to have something to do with this.  The remaining section needs bracketed numbers to reference the numerous footnotes, but somebody with more knowledge in the field will have to do that. Finally, I will request a move to change its title to "SEEC microscopy." Julian in LA (talk) 23:31, 18 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
