What's "SB"?

[edit]

I was trying to figure out what the (probable) initialism "SB" derives from. I figured I might learn here. No luck. My best guess is "Sports Blog". However, what I see on the following web page would suggest "Sports Brand": http://www.crunchbase.com/company/sb-nation If someone knows for sure, please add to article. It used to stand for "Sports Blog" http://www.inc.com/news/articles/2010/08/interview-with-jim-bankoff-ceo-of-sbnation.html but now is just an abbreviation, like how MTV is no longer an initialism for Music Television. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.232.78.35 (talk) 18:37, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tyler Bleszinski

[edit]

why the heck does "Tyler Bleszinski" redirect here, and there's also a link in this very article to Tyler Bleszinski which redirects to the article. It's fun to loop around for like 30 seconds, but then it gets boring. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.22.177.1 (talk) 16:19, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Expanded and updated draft

[edit]

Hello! On behalf of Vox Media, I've drafted an expanded and improved Wikipedia article about SB Nation for community review. I do not edit the main space because of my conflict of interest, so I'm looking for volunteer editors to review this draft article and copy over proposed content appropriately.

The existing Wikipedia article has a few problems:

  • the infobox mentions "Matt Watson", who is not credited as a founder or otherwise mentioned in the article's prose
  • the company's NYC offices are no longer near Bryant Park
  • the lead's last sentence regarding content sharing is outdated
  • in the "Vox Media" section, the following content is both inaccurate and unsourced: "On August 8, 2017, Vox Media announced a partnership with Bill Simmons' The Ringer, a website that focuses on sports, pop culture, and tech. The website has been integrated into SB Nation. At this time it is unknown if the site will stay on that platform or move to an entirely new platform."
  • the quote by Jim Bankoff is unnecessary
  • content about the 2012 redesign seems overly detailed, if not promotional, and specifically crediting Spencer Hall seems unnecessary
  • the "Rebranding" section is just one sentence, sourced by the SB Nation website

I've worked to address these issues and provide a more complete overview of the brand's history, business model, programming, and recognition, using appropriate sourcing, with Vox's review for accuracy. "Relaunch", "Vox Media", and "Rebranding" seemed like poor subsection heading titles, so I've removed these, kept the "Holtzclaw controversy" heading, and added a "Programming" subsection. Regarding the Holtzclaw controversy, given the sensitivities here, the only proposed change to this section is changing the word "fiasco" to "situation" in the last sentence. I'd argue "situation" is more neutral, and I'm open to other suggestions.

I hope editors will agree this draft is an improvement over the existing article. Again, I'm seeking a volunteer to copy over markup appropriately, and I'm happy to tackle the draft in its entirety or address one section at a time. I can answer questions or concerns here or on my user talk page. Thanks in advance for any help. Inkian Jason (talk) 01:27, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Inkian Jason: After some tweaks, I will copy it over @Inkian Jason:  Done AmericanAir88 (talk) 16:14, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@AmericanAir88: Thank you for reviewing the draft and updating the live article. If you don't mind, I think the "<!--" and "-->" from the screenshot field in the infobox should be removed in order for the image to display properly. Otherwise, the article looks great! Thanks again. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:01, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
