Mouthpiece of government
[edit]An editor is removing the statement that Rustavi 2 is considered as a Saakashvili mouthpiece, claiming the source doesn't state this. The source states:
The Georgian daily, Rezonansi, wrote on August 30 that the top management of Imedi TV – in charge of news and political programming - is now composed of people with close links to the authorities. It also noted sarcastically that Imedi TV might become a “Rustavi 3” – a reference to Rustavi 2 TV, which is a private television station, but is regarded as a government mouthpiece.
The statement is clearly referenced by that statement, unless of course Saakashvili is not the head of the government in Georgia? --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 23:35, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Russkie, what's up! That's what happens when you have free newspapers in the country. They can criticize the government as much as they want. That particular article is very critical of Saakashvili and his government. So, we can't just put that information on the encyclopedia without backing it up with something else. Does it make sense, buddy? KOBA (talk) 23:43, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
- First, I'm not Russian. Second, is civil.ge a reliable source or not? If it is, then if it says it is a mouthpiece, then we can say so on the article. Third, you are right, WP is not Soviet-era Pravda, but at the same time, it is not Saakashvili-era Rustavi 2, in which investigations are not carried out on Saakashvili and his government, and which is censored by the Georgian government. Got that one, Gruzinsky? --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 02:52, 6 October 2008 (UTC)
- FYI, Gruzinsky can mean either a surname or an adjective, but not an ethnic designation. --KoberTalk 16:53, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think he meant Gruzin. SkyBonTalk\Contributions 18:30, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

- The dropping of Mikheil Saakashvili is one of the Russian invation to Georgia goals. So evrything Saakashvili doing becoming bad, Rustavi 2 is Saakashvili's Pravda ect. Mikheil Saakashvili is not departing fo K.G.B like Putin or Medevdev. He grow up in democratic country and adherent democracy.

- anyway, nobody her is media scientist, and conclusion like User:Russavia come to are not acceptable.
- she wrot this sentence:
- "being viewed as the mouthpiece of the Saakashvili government in [[Tbilisi]"
- pleas notice that there are international parameters for freedom of the media. So pleas delete the miserable sentence. Geagea (talk) 02:55, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Firstly, Medvedev ISN'T a former KGB agent like Putin - he is civil. Secondly, Main target of invasion was a defence of South Ossetia. If you have your brains washed then plz go to mental hospital. WP is not a forum. From now such new msgs will be deleted shortly as discussion page IS NOT a forum (look at the template above). SkyBonTalk\Contributions 18:38, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

- WP is not censored, and if a multitude of sources (Georgian and American mind you) state that Rustavi 2 is a mouthpiece of Saakashvili's government, then it stays. I don't care what any editors opinions are, as they don't care what mine are, but when reliable sources state it is a mouthpiece of the government, then its good enough for inclusion on the article. Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 04:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- Newspapers are soures for news. so they can be reliable sources for news. opinion, gossip and others should be considerd as it opinion, gossip ect. The only reliable sources for a such severe accusation is academic work.
- Nevertheless, I try to find thos sourses you mention but find nothing. Pleas give us the link to the specific articles that we can check them as wall. Geagea (talk) 23:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know how they teach research in Russia but when I was taught writing, I was told that I should use facts instead of 'hard statements'. Calling a private television a 'mouthpiece' of somebody is a controversial statement; so, let us refrain from that. KOBA (talk) 03:23, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- What makes one think I am Russian? I suggest people go read WP:V. If we have half a dozen sources (I can find at least a hundred more, but refuse to do so) that state it is a mouthpiece of Saakashvili's government, then we can state so in WP. To say it is "believed not to be independent" is only telling half the story; why isn't it believed to be independent, and in what way? The desire to cover up this piece of information is not on. --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 00:34, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Still you did not give us even one link for source that I can check if you understand correctly the link. Maybe if you do so I can convince your point. Geagea (talk) 00:51, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- The statement is sourced to one reference (civil.ge), and then Gigla83 took issue to it, so another 5 sources were supplied. They are right there in the article. --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 01:01, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Gigla's attempt to make the passage more neutral is legitimate and much welcomed.--KoberTalk 07:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
