Can I just say, from personal recollection, that there was a Rum Runner nightclub on Broad Street long before 1979, going back at least as far as the early 1970s. Probably under different management but needs recording. Cutler 23:08, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)
- Maybe - not sure but the Berrows put it on the map - jazz funk nights were squeezed out by new wave/romatic music. Key players were Nigel (manager) Jimmy (Bar Manager) who later teamed up to open the Tin Can Club (and then managed GBH and a promotion company) Al Beard (front door) Mark (Front Door) and a few others who's names escape me - great club friendly atmosphere also a hang out for bands such as Fashion, Blancmange, and others when in town. A few idiots attended looking to pick a fight but I loved the place on the whole. Liam
- Cutler, any help on the early history would be welcome! And thanks for your reminiscences, Liam. Anyone know when the club shut down? I know the building was eventually torn down and there's a hotel there now, but I don't know when that happened. — Catherine\talk 17:43, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
