Cup of Russia -> Rostelecom Cup

[edit]

Cup of Russia officially renamed to ROSTELECOM CUP, as the current sponsor is Rostelecom. ([1]) -- deerstop. 16:09, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting news. :) I'd wait off on a page move and correcting wikilinks for the 2009-2010 season until the Grand Prix announcement comes out, though. The latest ISU Communication still has "Cup of Russia" "ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2009/2010". Kolindigo (talk) 03:32, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The annoucement "refers to it as the Rostelecom Cup".. So I guess the question is now: is this a one-time thing or is the event going to be renamed this for many years? If this is just a one time event and the 2010 event will be the 2010 Cup of Russia, then I'm not sure we should rename this article. Cup of Russia is the most common name for this competition and the article can simply note that the 2009 event was called the Rostelecom Cup. The 2009 article will be the 2009 Rostelecom Cup since that will be the name, but I'm not sure if Cup of Russia should be renamed. Thoughts? Kolindigo (talk) 05:27, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Rian.ru states "for one year". -- deerstop. 06:22, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
