Rose Rosette disease and ‘Knockout’ Roses.
[edit]It is my understanding that the mite which carries and spreads RRD was laboratory bred to kill Multiflora Roses, which were taking over grazing lands in the West. Therefore, any roses which have multiflora in their parentage will be susceptible to RDD. I have observed this to be true, and roses without this parentage or susceptibility (e.g . ‘New Dawn’) survived right next to healthy large roses (Climbing Pinkie, Russell's Cottage Rose, White Meideland) which died from RDD. ( It took 3 years in some cases to kill them, but they tragically succumbed.
Removal of all wild Multiflora, which are carriers in the environment helps to bring the disease somewhat under control. 50.111.105.162 (talk) 23:03, 29 November 2021 (UTC)
