Marcomannia only in Slovakia
[edit]It is said in the article that Marcomannia was supposed to be in the western part of Slovakia. But from the map at the top, it seems like almost half of the area is in the eastern Czech Republic. I guess it should be mentioned too or clarified. --Adam Zivner (talk) 07:33, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
- I totally disagree with the rename of the article to "Marcomannia". I wrote the article "Romans in Slovakia" from the beginning, and I preferred to use that title because I centered the research on the territory of Slovakia (and bypassed the area of Moravia & Bohemia, adding only a few data about). Furthermore the Marcomanni lived mainly in Moravia (only a few in actual Slovakia!), while the QUADI were living in most of actual southwest Slovakia (as shown in the map I have originally added). So to rename the article "Marcomannia" is a mistake, even because nobody knows exactly what were going to be limits of the province of Marcomannia and what those of the province of Sarmatia. Marcus Aurelius spent most of his time fighting the Quadi in order to unite Roman Dacia to Roman Pannonia. Probably the Quadi area was going to be included in the province of Sarmatia, because part of the northern Pannonian plains. And the Marcomanni (who lived mainly in hills, valleys and mountains) were only attacked by him in the periphery of their territories: he never entered inside Bohemia, their central area!). Indeed, to write about Marcomannia would have forced to write about Augustus campaigns in Moravia & Bohemia (actual Czech republic)....and in the article there is no paragraph about. Hope someone will correct the mistake about the rename. T56b — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.64.244.73 (talk) 02:54, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with above. I will return to the initial name "Romans in Slovakia". Quadi were important like the Marcomanni in the Marcus Aurelius conquests.--Firstpangea (talk) 02:40, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
