Talk:Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown
High Schools
[edit]Sts John and Paul is not in fact run by the diocese even though it is in the diocese. It was run by an order and is now run by a private board of directors, I believe. --Daysleeper47 20:11, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
The previous comment was correct. However, SJP was for at least a time after 2008, a "diocesan" school in some business arrangements while maintaining some seperation in Board membership, etc.
Edits were made to the "Political" section. One item had been listed, describing events in 2009 and referring to opposition to same sex marriage.
In order to provide better coverage of the topic, material was added to describe previous events and history that would be relevant to people actually living in the diocese itself or to Roman Catholics in general. Of particular importance was the passage of the Ohio Fair Bus Law which was passed by the Ohio legislature in 1965 and became law in 1966 according to the archives of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The sponsorship or leadership of Bishop Malone and the USCCB in statements made regarding nuclear disarmament in the United States was interesting at the time. The general political trend with rare exceptions is that lay Catholics are more conservative politically than diocesan leadership. Diocesan endorsement of subsidized housing initiatives is also mentioned because of the significant impact this had in the demographics of the northern part of the diocese, and how this affected elections. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Green9090 (talk • contribs) 18:16, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Please explain use of 2005-2007
[edit]I found the following
Diocesan Administrator
[edit]- Monsignor Robert J. Siffrin (2005-2007) (2020 - Present)
It is not common to insert administrator. However, I left it in, but am now wondering where 2005-2007 came from. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carlm0404 (talk • contribs) 11:15, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
St. Patrick School, Troy, Ohio
[edit]Someone may wish to look into adding this school. I am not able to determine if it falls within the scope of this Diocese of Youngstown.
St. Patrick School, connected to St. Patrick Church in Troy.[1] (The direct link to St. Patrick School[2] currently does not work.) See also the school's Facebook page.[3] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeisenberg (talk • contribs) 17:23, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
July 2021 Latin Church revision
[edit]As of July 2021, this article was modified to eliminate the nondescript term "Roman Catholic" in favor of the more precise distinction of "Latin Church" (the sui iuris church) and "Catholic Church" (the denomination). If you believe this edit to be in error or improper, please make the relevant reversion and open discussion on this talk page or my personal talk page. Thank you. ~ Pbritti (talk) 22:02, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
