[edit]Could someone add a map on how to get there?
Also, what about fishing in the area?
- On the way there, the creek running along the D&RGW RR, good fly fishing.LanceBarber (talk) 21:26, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
And isn't there some controversy? (Some people want to reopen the pass and some conservationists don't).
Rollins Pass
[edit]The article suggests that you can drive the pass over the Continental Divide in the summer. I believe that info is incorrect and should be corrected by someone more knowledgeable than I.
Why cant they open it? just as an alternative during the summer, it would not have to be a maintained highway or anything —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.202.44 (talk) 23:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
I started to simply update the access route, which is from US Route 40 in Winter Park only, but I ended up making a lot of other changes based on first-hand knowledge. The major change I made was to make it clear that it is not possible to drive all the way over the pass from one side to the other. Reopening the Needle's Eye Tunnel continues to be controversial. IMHO it could be done, but I'm not an engineer.
The best fishing near Rollins Pass is at Yankee Doodle Lake and Jenny Lake, which are reached from the east (Rollinsville) side.

- there are huge jurisdictional issues over the road, from the forest service to 3 different counties, not the least of which is the infamous Boulder county, in which the needels eye tunnel resides. the greenies plain dont want anyone in there mountains. unfortunatly after the tunnel was repaired, there was a cave in that killed a guy. so the powers that be have used this as an excuse to keep it closed.
