Correction
[edit]Contrary to many encyclopedia articles, the Rogun Dam is not the worlds tallest! It was never completed. Construction was halted in 1991 and the construction site was virtually destroyed in 93 due to flooding.
Looks like some bad wikipedia info has made it far and wide - I added a reference to clean up some of the confusion Tiki2099 17:03, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Coordinates
[edit]According to Wikimaps, correct coordinates are 38°50'28"N 69°55'3"E Beagel (talk) 16:17, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- And their source appears to be en.Wikipedia. I moved the coordinates further south where you can see foundation work down, the old worker housing and even if you look on Good earth, Panaramio has pictures plotted called it the dam site.--NortyNort (Holla) 21:29, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- according to panoramio is 38°41'3.01"N 69°46'25.78"E correct location. your coordinates show road M41. --Frze (talk) 23:22, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Frze
- I will look it over again when I get on my personal computer later. I usually only use Panoramio (user-published) coordinates to supplement a location based off of what you can see on imagery or location provided by a developer.--NortyNort (Holla) 01:27, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
- Mistake:
If I take GeoHack ° minutes seconds >Google Earth goes automatically to adifferent place (M41 road).
If I take decimal it goes to the correct place.
Sorry, there is something behind the scene in this GE-Programm.
If I say GE "Rogun", it goes to "Rogun-Staudamm", that place about 20 km nort-heast. Maybe there are differences between english and german versions. I hope the coordinates are now quite right. Are there more pictures of the dam in panoramio or elsewhere? Thanks.--Frze (talk) 13:43, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Frze- I think the coordinates are alright where they are now. It will be built a little south of the worker camp at Rogun in that valley there. I was looking at some recent pics of the site; that bridge appears to be close to the coordinates. This photo appears to be right at the coordinates. I am using Google Earth.--NortyNort (Holla) 14:09, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
