Reads like a travel guide
[edit]This article reads like a travel guide. I started cutting, but a lot more work is needed. Also, the section on internet access has no place here - thus, now it's gone. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but Wikipedia policies & guidelines prohibit travel guide-like writing. It's just not a part of Wikipedia's mission. If you would like to write a Rodanthe travel guide, I'm sure you can find a "travel guide wiki" on which to do so. ask123 (talk) 02:28, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- There is even a photo captioned "Welcome to Mirlo Beach." This reads as if it had been cut and pasted from the chamber of commerce tourist site. PurpleChez (talk) 20:27, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
I lived there for a while...tourism is pretty much what the place is about these days although there is a lot of history there..I would be interested in doing a major rewrite of all the Outer Banks articles but it has evolved in a very short time from a very rural sleepy out of the way beach area to an extremely commercial district and there isn`t really much getting away from that if you go there..the motel references are misleading..virtually every structure in the town is a rental unit and there are numerous motels in the area..only the Salvo Inn and whatever the other one is in Rodanthe..it`s a nice place in the winter when no ones around..the locals are a bunch of economic predators for the most part Lonepilgrim007 (talk) 02:03, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
- There really is a lot of interesting history there..it should be in the article 2600:1702:2340:9470:D78:E839:A6F:E388 (talk) 04:51, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
Can't find evidence the town nick name is "The Highest Place on Earth"
[edit]looked at multiple sources...no mention. suggest deletion of nickname. 174.46.176.98 (talk) 21:17, 10 February 2020 (UTC)j2k
- It has nothing to do with anything..someone slipped it in there as a reference to getting stoned..it`s barely above sea level 2600:1702:2340:9470:D78:E839:A6F:E388 (talk) 04:54, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
